Iv'e been thinking about all the Square games their redoing on DS and i think it would be great if they ported Chrono trigger onto DS, It's one of my favorite games of all time, and in my opinion better then FF6. anyone agree?

I totally agree, but the chances of this pulling through is very little
But consider all these Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy remakes it shouldn't hurt adding Chrono Trigger to that bunch..
I dont know why square-enix apparently doesnt want to "touch" the chrono trigger series or anything (more like two games) and doesnt want to make any ports or sequels. They're making the game seem overrated
I mean I'm sure it must have been a really good game, and with the "dream team" working on it and all must have been awsome, but please Square get a hold of yourselves you... you... *sigh* I cant say it
I'm ashamed to say but yeah I too will just play it on my psp... through illegitimate means....
A DS chrono trigger huh? I'm still waiting on confirmation for FF 4 and DQ 4 coming to North America
You would think Square-Enix would see this as a no-brainer considering the original sold less than 3 million copies world wide and was considered a commercial success by all accounts. There are so many DS owners out there clammoring for this game it would be ridiculous not to even consider it after all of the Final Fantasy remakes they have released with huge success!
Are you listening Square-Enix?
I would absolutely love it if Chrono Trigger made it to the DS. All they would have to do is convert the game to DS code and remap the buttons for the DS. They dont even necessarily need to use the touch screen however that would be a definite plus. Added material or not, I would buy it.
Makes me wonder though...seeing how Square is progressing with the remakes and whatnot, it looks like they are going in order of game release. FFIV remake for the DS was released in Japan 21 Dec i think, and am really hoping it comes out soon for the US. Rumors have flown about in regards to future remakes of V and VI and should that be the case...FFVI came out before Chrono trigger therefore we would see it after FFVI. That is however, simply just optimistic speculation.

I agree with you(except for the FF6 thing;) ). Porting it on the DS would be a good idea, but I wouldn't mind if they added an in-game music player in the game(like how they did with the FF remakes on the GBA), so you could listen to the songs in the game.
I agree that we need a revival of Chrono Trigger, which was one of the greatest RPGs of all time. I still have trouble deciding between FF6 and CT as to which of these two games is my favorite RPG, but hopefully we'll see something done with both games. I know FF6 was already ported to GBA not too long ago, but maybe they could remake that game using the same 3D engine as they did for FF3 and 4. As for remaking CT in 3D, I wouldn't really advise it unless they could nail the atmosphere flawlessly. I think that's a problem with the conversion from hi-fi 2D to lo-fi 3D; a lot of the detail and quality of the atmosphere is lost.
As for the person who mentioned Chrono Cross, I would have to strongly disagree. This game doesn't even deserve to share the title of a Chrono Trigger game, as it didn't even come close to capturing the same magic and brilliance as the original game. I doubt the same team even had anything to do with it's production... It was just a marketing strategy used to ride the coat-tails of Chrono Trigger's success.
Anyways, let's all hope that we see something that's TRUE to the original Chrono Trigger in the future; be it a port, a remake, or a faithful spin-off.

Chrono trigger really needs a new game or a port. I think square enix has not done enough justice to this game, which is a shame it is one of the game rpgs that ever came out. Yasunori mitsuda said not to long ago he would love to do another score for a new game but warned there are a lot of politics involved with the game. So I really do not know if chrono trigger would get a port or a new game any time soon. It all depends on square enix.

theyre keeping it a classic. much better than what they did to MILKy-way-final-fantasy-seven.

I agree with you when you say about how complicated is to transform a 2D game in a 3D game... I never played the original NES FF3 so I can't say nothing about loosing atmosfere but I can't say eather that I would like to see a 3D CT...
BTW... I'v the impression that you din't liked crhono cross.... personally CC and metal gear solid were the best games of the PS1 besides chrono, luka and marle are in the game... maybe you get dissapointment due the fact that luka get killed???
I just don't have many memories of playing Chrono Cross... I played it once or twice and was just like, "Meh." There were too many characters for it to really have any kind of strong character development... Which felt kind of cheap.
Now Chrono Trigger on the other hand, I'll never forget... Brilliant game with brilliant characters and a brilliant story... Beautiful.
I'm not saying Chrono Cross was a bad game... It wasn't. It just pales in comparison to Chrono Trigger. If Chrono Trigger is a perfect 10, then Chrono Cross is probably somewhere between a 6 and an 8.
I'd only like it if it were pretty much an exact port. I wouldn't want some crappy 3D remake where they ruin it by making it look lame.
SNES graphics are sweet as it is.
I didnt have the intention eof making this a chrono triger/crhono cross forum... both games are awesome... equally since my point of view... anyway yes I want a chrono trigger port to ds, yes I'll buy it with my eyes close and no I don't wanna 3D graphics... but some impove gameplay with the touch screem doesn't hurt
I'm all for it. Bring on Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. And while they're at it, make it a bonus pack and throw Xenogears in it as well seeing as how they already planned a re-release of Xenosaga 1 and 2 on DS. That would be one Awesome RPG Collection.nini200
I would rather have seiken densetsu 3 the sequel to secret of mana. That game rocks and should be given a port. Instead of getting that game we got the lack luster secret of evermore.
For me once I saw the way final fantasy 12 was headed and how long it took I lost all faith in square enix. Just my opinion take it or leave.project-exile
I disagree Final fantasy XII was a great game as are all the main final fantasy games (I-XIII). Though they do have alot of spin offs and remakes that arn't the classics the originals were, they are still refreshing and rarely bad games.

I'll reiterate: Final Fantasy XII was a great game! It had the old FF spirit from head-to-toe.
I'm happy, I have the PSX version of Chrono Trigger (Even though the load times can be a pain the in butt).
