I just beat Chrono Cross a couple of weeks ago. I know it came out about 5 or 6 years ago. But hey it was my bro's and I just started playing it this summer. Well after beating Chrono Trigger and Cross in one year I began to do my research to see if they would make another. Only rumors. Nevertheless I read somewhere that Nintendo and Square Enix are talking about releasing Chrono Trigger on the VC. Does anyone have any more info on this? If they do release it on VC which version will they release? WOuld they release the PS1 version with the cut sceens or will they release the original SNES version?

God bless.

I sure as heck hope so. Even though I've beaten that game a billion times, I would probably buy it.

I'd be really surprised if Square actually released it on VC, since they seem fond of releasing their old games on DS and PSP - that way they can charge $30-$40 instead of $8. But still, we can always hope that Chrono Trigger will be the exception.

I sincerely hope Chrono Trigger comes out for VC. That's one of my favorite games, period. I'd love for SquareEnix to do a remake of this instead of one of the many FF games that I probably won't play.

it would be nice, but like the guy above just mentioned, they would probably release it on the DS instead, the same way they've been doing with all their old FF games.

This hope is probably farfetched, but maybe they could release Chrono Cross on the VC if they release Chrono Trigger on VC.

Well, Chrono Cross is a Playstation game, and a Playstation game will NEVER appear on the VC (for obvious reasons). Maybe on the PSN Store... but again, it seems unlikely, judging from Square's usual business model.

DS? Hmm. I don't know. I hear more rumors about it beign on VC than on DS so far. Making on DS would be too complex if they were to update it, and it would flop if it wern't updated for the DS. I think the best thing Square could do is to release it for the VC. Besides to remake it totally be taking a risk of ruining the series. You can't just add more onto the story. The game would still be 25 hrs long or so.

Why wouldn't they? THe only thing that I could think of that they could do with it is to release it on PSP. Square won't let them remake it. It is a great game in all, but to remake it would ruin it. The game is far to short ot hold its own in the current generation. Besides if Sony wants to be a bunch of losers then let them. All Square has to do is to make a few changes here and there and the could legally release it on VC. If such could be done with Chrono Trigger a SNES game comming out for the PS1 then Square can certainly do the same for the PS1 Chrono Trigger for VC as well as Chrono Cross.

God bless.

Scratch my comments above on what SOny can do with Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Nevertheless I think Square would have a more wide audience with the Wii than the PS3. Hence more money. SOny is losing money from sellign consoles last time I heard, so why would they bother withthe Chrono series?

Let's just imagine that Sony would allow the PS1 to appear on VC - the games would still be too big to fit on the Wii's memory. It would have to have a hard drive. It's just not going to happen.

And I don't know what you mean about Chrono Trigger not being feasible for a remake on DS/PSP. Square has been remaking all their other old games, haven't they?

The only FF I have seen remade was FFIII and that was because they lost some kind of essential codes of some sort. All of the others were basically the same save only the fact they are for a different system. THat is it. Also, I highly doubt that it would be impossible to put ps games on a Wii. I would think that if they can fit a N64 game on there then they could fit a ps game on there. I know a cd has more space, and Chrono Cross was 2 cds, but I highly doubt that one VC game of the sort would be impossible to put on VC. How can one game take up lets see 2000 blocks. But then again I could be wrong. Besides I am sure Nintendo is working on a way to expand their block system by adding more memory to the wii. Their must be a way besides the constant loading of SD and USB drives. I would think Nintendo would be working on this.

God bless.

"I would think that if they can fit a N64 game on there then they could fit a ps game on there."

well. considering most n64 games were like 32mb's... (tell me if i'm completely wrong, please, but i don't think i am)

and we all know how much a cd holds. now, i don't know if the cd's were actually filled up, but still.

Doesn't matter if it's fully remade or not... the point is that FF games ported over to DS and PSP sell for three (or four) times as much money as they would on the VC. So it seems likely that Square would continue this business model. That doesn't mean that it's a guarrantee, but looking at their track record, it would just be pretty surprising if they went the other route with Chrono Trigger. I'm hoping it will happen, but I won't hold my breath.

As for Chrono Cross... There is a HUGE difference in space between a 2 CD game and an N64 game. N64 games ranged from 8MB to 32 MB in size, while a CD holds 700 MB. That means that Chrono Cross would be more than 1 GB in size, and would CERTAINLY take up all 2000 blocks (I'm pretty sure the Wii's internal memory is only 512 mb). But this is a moot point, since PS1 games simply won't appear on VC, by virture of the fact that they're... well, PLAYSTATION games. I have never seen anyone argue the possibility of seeing Playstation on the VC before. I mean, come on...

So, in short... Chrono Trigger on VC is a possibility, but we probably shouldn't count on it. Chrono Cross on VC is an impossibility.

True. Perhaps Nintendo will come out with some kind of memory expansion that is quickloading and that you can play off of. SOmething like a mini hard drive so to speak. WIth the rate they are making games on wii and VC I would think that they would have to. As far as I know the memory sticks for the wii you cant play games off of them. Am I correct on this?

I agree with the fact that right now a release of Chrono Cross on VC would be an impossible...now at least. Maybe time will make such possible though. Sony is afterall losing bookoo bucks on the PS3 and if this continues until its end which some say this generation will end in 2012 then I dare to say that Sony will pull out of the console gaming business. By then Wii would be obsolete, but there will be a new Nintendo system. But of couorse this is pure speculation.

SO the big debate is whether or not CT is rereleased at all. ANd if it is will it be for DS or Wii? Perhaps PSP, but I highly doubt that becauseit does not have as wide of an audience. Anyone wish to guess?
