I'm not exactly sure what you mean by yellow tint. I'm handled many crimson/black DS Lites at my work, and their screens looked perfect in every way.
The bottom screen has a slight yellow tint. Turn on the unit and watch the white startup screen. If seen this on every crimson (well 3, plus mine) DS. Its not white. But most stores are now saying thats normal and wont offer any refunds. You can do a search on youtube to see the worst ones. My crimson is only light yellow tint.starstreak007
Sounds fishy, but I'll check it out. I'd hate to think that the screens are of lesser quality than the original white DS Lite, but who's to say. My first DS Lite had a stuck blue pixel on launch day, but luckily I got it replaced. Like I said, my work puts me in a position to handle many used DS Lites on a daily basis, and of the many units I've inspected, I've never encountered this yellow screen. Maybe it's bad luck, maybe it's a factory defect, but I don't think it accounts for the majority of units shipped.

I have a Crimson as well and I've yet to see this yellow tint that they speak of. I will say this though, I have seen a few White DS with the yellow tinted touch screen, so I guess it must be a random problem with the Crimson having the most cases of it...
Yeah...
I didn't noticed the yellow tint until I saw this post...
At first, I couldn't really tell if the yellow tint was present by looking at the start up screen. So I turned on all my 3 DS lites... then I finally see the difference. My oldest DS lite, an enamel navy blue, Asian model seems to have the brightest screen... sigh...
Well, I guess it's not a big deal.
