wow complete bias much (the article) as soon as he found out its NOT an Xbox360 games he admiration drops..lol. That's what I get from reading it, "oh look its a new 360 game, ....wait what that's on Wii...boo hiss hiss". Didn't even try to hide his bias.

superbuuman
i think it's more like "oh another generic sci fi shooter for the 360... wait what? it's for the wii? huh." and that's it. the previewer didn't even get to do anything other than watching a video or two while moving from one room to the other.

I found the previw to be positive in the sense that the previewer liked the game. The 'negativity" that poeple seem to have taken away from this is only that the previewer feels a sense of worry for the game's ability to be succsessful in finding it's identity on the system. Not whether or not the quality of the game is high

On a side note I for one am mega pumped for Conduit 2! :)

Conduit NEEDS something for it to stand out. ASE was their only defining feature and that was not unique or even pertinent to the game (meaning the puzzles and secrets were pointless and easy).

Do something cool with the ASE! Make it turn enemies into your allies, let it be a coop feature(remember Jet Force Gemini where you could have second player control the robot), let someone control it with the DS, use fun and interesting puzzles with it.

I kind of feel that this paragraph may explain why some people think the Conduit and its sequel looks great and others (like myself) don't share the same sentiment:

"The gamer with only a Wii and a desire for a first-person shooter could look to Conduit 2 as a game that has the bullet points their 360, PS3 or PC-owning friends might say a shooter must have. The game, however, still struggles to impress outside of that context, when viewed as its own thing."

I felt the first one showed alot of promise really, looking at the reviews though and the gameplay itself i think one of the biggest let downs was the art design. looking at one of the trailers though it looks like the sequel has fixed this.

I agree. Use of the ASE, in the first game, wasn't really all that I thought it could be. Then again, many FPS fans don't like puzzles or breaks in the action. I guess most of us around here are different in that aspect. So I don't mind wittier puzzles and better use of the ASE.

People should stop comparing this to Xbox game standards. It's a Wii game for crying out loud. Deal with it. Conduit FTW!

Why shouldn't we? Many games on the Wii are excellent in general, even when judged against games for other consoles. A game that is only good "for the Wii" is a game that is not good.

If that's the case, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 would be better on the other systems. The motion controls in those games are minimal and don't really add much in terms of gameplay. Galaxy in HD with dual analog controls would feel just about the same if not look better.

I'm not talking about comparing games on the Wii with how they would be on other consoles; I'm talking about comparing games on the Wii with games on other consoles. Graphics aside, there are tons of games on the Wii that are good games, period, not just good "for the Wii". If you have to basically be ignorant of what you're missing on other consoles to enjoy a game on the Wii, then that game is just not good, period.

Indeed there are good Wii games in their own right and I don't like comparing Wii games to 360 games either--but people do it anyway...especially game journalist who are supposed to be the professionals. I don't need to be reminded of the obvious (No duh it's not HD... How long has the Wii been out?!). I see what you're saying though. If a game is good...then you won't wander how good it would be on a stronger console.

Basically whenever someone out there is saying, "It's good...for a Wii game," the message here is to automatically assume to have really low expectations for wii software and then with those low expectations rise up with "It's good only compared to the titles/genre within the wii system, but don't look at it compared to the other consoles because then we're looking at, in general, mediocre at best."

Having every system this gen, I approach Wii games as "what can you do to be a good game." If it does not have the regular next gen offerings like DLC or online play it better have something unique and creative about it.

I think the first was pushed to heavily, and copared to heavily, to Halo and COD, which are older, better polished games, that have it right. I thought the first one was good, and deserved 8.5. I'M trying to say right now, that the conduit proves the hardware on the Wii works for spot on control(unless ur hands r shaky), and good visuals. It has the Hardware, Now it just needs something ORIGINAL.NEW.FRESH.and something that can prove rto the haters that we can have our fps's too.
