When these sorts of threads come up, I have to ask why exactly we seem to care which games have the "best" graphics. The fact remains that the Wii has some fantastic looking games: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Okami, and others. So why does it matter if Conduit's graphics are "the best EVAR!" or if the game just looks great. People here sometimes have a hard time realizing that just because a game doesn't look the best doesn't mean it looks BAD. And they have an even harder time realizing that good graphics don't make a game good -- it's gameplay that does that. So what we should be arguing over, really, is whether or not Conduit's gameplay will outstrip that of other Wii games. My two cents, anyway...bluej33

This thread wasn't to point out that the graphics werent has good as everyone said. But to point out that High Voltage isn't the only game trying to improve the system like they claim. That's all I'm saying and I also noted that we can't say how these games control yet. If Conduit has good controls and is a fun game then sure I'll buy it.

The tech demo was not The Conduit. The tech demo showed still objects rendered in a small room. No way does that translate to a game with large environments, particle effects, multiple AIs moving around at once, and keeping it all at a steady framerate with low pop-in and sharp tectures.

If you want an example of a good looking game look at MP3, SMG, or SSBB, which have stellar graphics, great gameplay and rock-solid framerates. The Conduit has not proven itself to be one of those games.

listen at the 8:13-8:16 mark, where the reputable reviewer says "the first two halos set techinical benchmarks on the console"..it seems like the reviews tend to agree with me too, ..also inthat halo 3 review that you have quoted Jeff says in the next sentecne that he doesnt mean that halo 3 isnt techinically impressive, its just that the visuals are better...also graphics do not depend solely on technical prowess, it also is contingent upon art and visuals, which are excellent in the Halo series, thus making Halo series graphical powerhouses, not technical powerhouses..

Also heres an excerpt from the Halo 1 xbox review, from gamespot...the same site which you have quoted...

"Halo's a stunning-looking game, full of huge environments that are packed with eye candy"..this just reiterates my point that halo was a powerhouse when it first released....

On topic, I think people are jumping the gun - these shots are from a tech demo. Not a whole game, not a half game, barely even past the conceptual stage. These shots are extremely unlikely to represent the final game and what it will look like.

Why are we comparing a Xbox 360 game to a unfinished Wii game. We all no the graphics wont be as good as the 360, but it is comparable.machod_19

There hasn't been a single 360 shot on this board. The games posted are either from the PS2 or the original Xbox, systems that are both weaker (only slightly in the Xbox's case) than the Wii.

No, the only Halo screen I've seen posted on this thread is from Halo 2, a system which, like I said, is slightly less powerful than the Wii. If The Conduit can't stand up to games like Halo 2, then it's obviously not pushing the Wii.

Let's break this apart.

A) Deadly Creatures is from a decent dev, with only modest hands on reports. There are no real indications that it will be great.

B) You're kidding right? Right now it looks terrible. "Bu-but the tech demo!" Tech demos are tech demos, they only prove that they can render a set amount of objects in a small room. No AI, no large open worlds, no characters running around the screen, just nonmoving objects sitting in a room.

C) Their is absolutely nothing to suggest HV is pushing physics/AI, especially looking at how little they are pushing graphics.

D) What is the "complete package?" All I hear is hype from an unproven developer making a Wii game that looks generic and sub-par at this point in time. At least Factor 5 has a track record in making excellent games, even if they bombed some of their overhyped efforts (I'm looking at you, LAIR).

So, as far as the tech demo is concerned? It certainly was an impressive demo and makes me excited, however I never once in my very short post referred to the tech demo. What I referenced were not only the very pretty pics that were anything but generic, but also the article. Yes that large collection of words attached to the pics and single video that accompanied the release. In it they referred to the philosophy, approach and attitude adopted by HV, the graphics quality being pushed by your despised tech demo, the physics being applied also thanks to your demonic soul-sucking child-eating tech demo, and of course a mention of high quality AI previously unseen on the Wii.

It was pretty obvious that the demo had nothing that represented the game Conduit. Not entirely it's point. It was showcasing what HV is doing with Wii hardware in general and showed a lot of what technology is going into Conduit. It's really not hard to understand. Don't go spouting off nonsense and babble that make it sound like I am the one here who doesn't know what's going on bro. I'm just excited for a fantastic looking game.

yeah now the screen shots and videos are turning out good, this thread was made when the crappy screenshots were around, and I was just pointing out that people shouldn't be gushing over them because other games looked a lot better, then what they put out at first. But as of right now I'm more pleased with how the game is turning out.
