Could the 3DS really get any smaller?

I know there's people out there waiting for the Lite version but I thought about it a little and it doesn't seem possible. They'd have to decrease the screen size for a smaller footprint and put in an even smaller battery to make it thinner. It seems more likely Nintendo would release a fatter 3DS with bigger battery... So maybe say you're waiting for the 3DS Fat! Something to think about ;)

A 3DS XL would be nice. Big screens helped tired old gamers see the wonders of gaming more than tiny screens.

I also would prefer something similar to the XL, not smaller.

A 3DS Lite isn't something that is gong to happen. The 3DS already looks like a DS Lite. The system simply can't get any smaller. So those waiting for a redesign will be waiting for what might be a 3DS XL. A larger version and that could be years away. The reason the DS Lite even came about was because the original DS was a rush design. That wasn't how it was suppose to look.

I already have problems with the 3DS because the small thikness of the lower part, I have big hands and usually have problems gripping the 3DS comfortably, I installed the Nyko battery and is bigger now and feels actually very good, good grip. So no, like everybody here, i prefer a XL version.

I doubt it'll get alot smaller, half an inch at most. But If they ever release one it will be more like how the DSi was to the DS lite than the DS lite to the original DS.

Not really (its bottom screen is already smaller than a regular DSi), but there's plenty of room for improving the overall design. I know I'm relatively alone in this, but it's hideous. It bulges in weird places, has pieces comprised of four different colours (and a slightly glossy DS Lite style cover, even), terrible stylus placement, a poor volume slider (bring back the DSi buttons please), and is just way, way too glossy to be practical as a gaming device as if you look at it funny it develops fingerprints.

I'd much prefer a bigger 3DS, something like the xl. But, I dont expect to see any hardware revisions surface until 2012's E3 at the earliest.

Like a lot of people here, I imagine the 3DS redesign will have a bigger screen and bigger battery, especially since Nintendo will probably want something that competes with the Vita's 5 inch screen. That way Nintendo can also raise the price on the system to $189~ish when they increase the battery life. Probably won't happen for another year or so, though.

It had not occured to me that they might make a larger version. A 3DS w/ a screen as big as a PSP's would be awesome! I remember when you first started hearing about the next gen. Nintento handheld (I think they were calling it a DS2 or something--long time ago), the screen filled up the whole top half that opened up. That would really be something if they could pull that off.

[QUOTE="warishuku"]I already have problems with the 3DS because the small thikness of the lower part, I have big hands and usually have problems gripping the 3DS comfortably, I installed the Nyko battery and is bigger now and feels actually very good, good grip. Same here, I bought a plastic grip for super cheap and it's well worth getting if you have bigger hands (mine are normal sized I'd say but it's still a pain to hold). If anyone wants to check them out search for 3DS hand grip on Amazon, the one I have is by CTA something or other, they seem like a pretty great small company to be honest, they actually have people commenting on reviews thanking them for feedback and just put out an even wider grip with silicone handles which is meant to be even better according to the reviews (and no I don't work for CTA =p, just thought it was pretty admirable of them to actually care)
