i heard it was common on the onyx too. its probably because of the material. after a while it probably breaks from the tension or something.jacobs06WTF !!! on the Onyx aswell O.Ollll !?
I wonder if the cracked hinges only happened when people continually open up the DS all the way. All the way, as in to the second "click", instead of to the first 15 degree tilt "click".HoosTraxIt clicks twice?! Hopefully I've only been opening it to the 1st click:(
It clicks twice?! Hopefully I've only been opening it to the 1st click:(KJAX90It does on mine, but I own a pretty recent model. If you open it up slowly, you can hear a first loud "click" when the screen locks into place, and the DS screen will still be tilted (lhe top screen and the touch screen are at like 165 degrees with each other). If you continue to try opening it up, it will click a second time and this time it will be locked into a fully flat position, 180 degrees.
It seems the cracked hinges do not affect gameplay nor comfort (physically speaking). It seems to be no more than cosmetic damage, other than that, don't worry about your DS Lite's top screen breaking off or something ^^.Brainhunterbut i'd think we all prefer a ds without a cracked hinge, even if it just effects the appearance of it. we all want to keep our 'babies' undamaged lol.
Is it common to crack your hinge on a DSLite, and what causes it to crack?KJAX90Call the Nintendo service. they will fix it for u for free..

KJAX..Jordan...watever..cracked hinges are really nothing to worry about. If you treat your DS carefully, you will be fine. Just dont open it past the first click. Also, even if you do get one...its no big deal. It doesnt make a touch of difference to your DS gaming.megastarjoshOk, thanks:) Oh and to HoosTrax, mine also clicks twice...I'll be sure to only go past the first click:P
