Decent Rpgs for a novice like me to play?

so i got back my ds and looking forward to catching up playing the rpgs i couldnt in the past year (mostly the whole of 2009) any suggestions? i dont mind the type of rpg as long as it isnt too tough like E.O.

I say Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story is a good place to start. And it's a great game too. And although Zelda games are not really considered RPGs, it can be, so I recommend Spirit Tracks.

And like the above poster said, Chrono Trigger is a great game to play because of its legacy. It truly is a timeless game.

There was a similar topic on another forum I read some time ago and people who were new to RPGs (or who ordinarily disliked them) seemed to really enjoy Orcs & Elves and Rhapsody. Orcs & Elves is basically a dungeon crawl without a huge amount of story, but the gameplay is simple and not confusing for beginners. It also has an easy difficulty mode. Rhapsody is more of a story-based Japanese style RPG meant for beginners to the genre. I haven't personally played it, but it may be a good option for you. Both games should be only $10-$15 at the most, so don't pay any more than that should you decide to get either.
