Did no one notice? When he was talking about the online of mario kart, he said something that about "nintend believes you should be able to play with alot of people. How many people? Will will see" or something like that. But the trailer only showed the normal eight. Is there a secret? That maybe when you want to play mario kart online there will be modes where youc an be in a masssssssive race with 30 more people. 50 more people. Dare I say.... 100 people? Probally not. If I even heard right, I bet the most would be 30 people. But if you look at those tracks, I bet they could provide enough room for a decent amount of people. Wish I could get a transcript to double check what I think he said. Oh well.

It showed someone in 8th place, that doesn't mean there was only eight. There will probably be 10-12, I think.
i dont want to disappoint you guys but on mario kart ds we cantgo up to 4 player at the same time so maybe offline we will get 12 racers on one track but online i cant say right now....
but 12 could be possible if we look a the power of the wii versus the ds
but thinking it again12 could be possible becausewith the gamecube you could play with 8 to 16people at the same time( i think...) with those broadband adapter
During the presentation, right at the beginning the first race shown is Mario Circuit in the Flower Cup, with 12 different single racers lined up to race. I personally think that twelve should be the limit, especially with the possibilty of poor sports making the jump from DS and snaking and/or disconnecting from races. I just hope Nintendo improves that aspect of the series and doesn't allow either of those cheap methods. It looks good so far, and I will definitely buy this game when it comes out no matter what.
Major problem: Unless they've got some sort of watered-down "find a game" mode, you're going to need 30, 50, 100, whatever friend codes. I'm not doing that, thanks.
I think if you ound a transcript you would realise what he said was "more racers mean more fun, how many more? Well that will be another time" he was refering to the choice of people to race with
I think it's going to be 8 player online, he's meaning that there will be like 40 differant characters, and lots of karts too
maybe he was hinting at some non-mario related racers, as in super smash bros style? but I doubt it
100 ppl ftw!!! hectic mario kart right there. It would be like the begining of the marathon with wario in the lead as toad pulls out his blue shell with 25 people are destroyed in the massive blast. As cars spin over the side yoshi takes the lead, WHAT he is over taken by another player playing as Yosi and then another Yoshi takes the lead. As 60 odd people come up to the first corner on the figure of eight circuit A sea of Red and blue sparks lights the screen as the perfectpower sliding decides the fate of the race. All the players are fighting for the lead as first player changes every second. Well you get the picture
