Those other systems were designed to be computers that you mostly used to play games with. As such, they were also designed with online multiplayer in mind. The Wii was not.

Monster Hunter 3 is coming out early 2010 with online co-op and split screen. But yeah I agree, yesterday I was playing Borderlands (very tight game btw) and the whole time thinking dang why isn't a game like this on Wii, it's not like the cell shaded graphics in there were that advanced, something like that could easily be done on Wii.

I don't know I have 15 games for the Wii and plan on getting 3 more for Christmas and alot next year. I usually only get around 15 games for a console in a gen the most I've had was 21 or 22 for the GCN.

Then why does Wii feature wireless wifi.... if it has the capability for online it is designed for online, devs are just lazy and underestimate Wii's audience to an insulting level of thinking that Wii games don't need bells and whistles or epic production values... that really ticks me off personally.

I think he's looking for games with more "wow" factor that has higher production values. Something like Fallout, Boishock... you get the idea. Sadly devs don't think these types of game will sell on Wii (switch is bs cause I'd buy them and I know many others would too). Monster Hunter 3 is the closest thing to "wow" or "epic" which is why I'm hoping it sells great out west.

Insanely epic games like Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Pikmin 2, Paper Mario: TTYD and Resident Evil 4 will probably not come to the Wii, unless the next Zelda, Pikmin and Metroid delivers. The only game for the Wii I think have come close, so far, to the GameCube masterpieces is Super Mario Galaxy.

It has wifi so you the Wii can be updated and so you can download games for the VC. Just because it has wifi doesn't mean that it was designed with online multiplayer in mind. Look at all the crap that something like the Conduit had to go through to set up an online multiplayer system.

The Conduit was made by a small developer that had very few resources and yet they were able to slaughter Activition's efforts when it comes to online. With EFFORT Wii could have some really sweet online multiplayer games. Mario Kart has awesome online too, only thing it's missing is voice chat but Wii speak wasn't out then. Friend codes are a pain in the butt and Nintendo should do away with those.

What it sounds like is you just want a flood of FPS COD clones. Personally I dont really consider those epics. Their fun, but thier far from epic, the Wii has alot of fun games and a few epic ones as well. Don't let a rating dictate what is fun, because Mario Galaxy is better than just about every M rated game this gen.

if you're looking for a game that makes you say "Wow!" pick up either Cursed Mountain or Dead Space Extraction. Both of them have really high production values and are a blast to play

I bought the Wii for the singleplayer games but that's just me. I haven't even hooked my Wii up to even try the online just to download a few games. I think there are a ton of great Wii games but that's just me. Although I'm sure you can find more than five games.. I own multiple systems and I can still find plenty of Wii games to buy. I really need money for Muramasa The Demon Blade as that game looks amazing.

But all this 3rd party crap releasing wii carnvial, puppy racing minigames stuff just puts the wii down in my opinion.

Now if you look at another nintendoconsole like gamecube, there were some really good games for it that were brilliant and made it worth owning in my eyes. Games like super mario sunshine and wind waker.

Developers need to open their eyes and see that the wii is capable and deserves some games that actually have the time put into them.

The problem with video games is that they've been more than games for a long time now. The term "game" for something like Shadow of the Colossus or Bioshock is as misleading as calling The Sandman Chronicles a "comic". There are "games" that aren't really games but interactive narratives or worlds. Today, games still have to be fun first, but they've long passed the stage were they're restricted to thoughtless amusement. In the future, as gameplay mechanics and technology evolves further, I can see "games" going beyond the requirement of fun. Films started of as "just fun" but grew and evolved into an artistic medium, literature began as a tool to inscribe law and catalog trade and became an art much later. Just because video games began as games doesn't mean they will stay "games" forever.

Studios are just now starting to take the Wii seriously, and they still aren't getting it right all the time. They have it stuck in their head that Wii games need to be different or extremely accessable (there's a market for that, but not for the games they've been producing), and they are aiming for that instead of doing what they do best. Many Wii owners knew the limmitations of the Wii before they bought it, but decided game play mechanics were more important than graphics. This crowd has not been catered to, though there have been some weak attempts. CoD 4 is close, but the fact that it's 2 years late still shows Activision does not take the Wii seriously. I think the first CoD had only two developers working on the project, which is pathetic. Hopefully, CoD 7 will be done right. There are many games comming out with promise. Gladiator A.D., The Grinder, Monster Hunter Tri, Epic Mickey, perhaps Numen (PC RPG that's also going to be on the Wii -- finally!!), etc. F1 2009 sounds fantastic, except Codemasters forgot the online aspect. They probably wanted to see how well a serious attempt at a racing sim would do on the Wii before devoting full resources toward it. I'm still excited for it though. The Crystal Bearers looked like it could have been great, but I'm not so sure about this game after reading the preview at IGN. It's much more of an action adventure than RPG (which would be fine, but I wanted an RPG), and IGN said it wasn't too dificult. I think SE went for accessibility on this game, but unfortunately, I don't see the blue ocean crowd being interested in it so I'm afraid they may have dumbed down what could have been a great game for no reason. Time will tell. Red Steel 2 is another title that could have been great, and the single player looks like it will be, but it just feels incomplete without multiplayer (then again, 1:1 sword fighting with lag isn't a good idea, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been co-op). Hopefully, there will be some RPG elements in it. There is no doubt that the quality of third party titles are getting better, but some of the previous attempts have been pathetic and i don't think that effort is fully there yet.

theres a lot of good online games most tend to be wiiware tetris, bomberman blast, overturn are all games that are flawless online for me, then animal crossing and bomberman i have had no problems with the only game i have played with bad online play is brawl

Now bear in mind that if you make this thread, and then read that list and the suggestions of the other educated Wii gamers in here who know what they're talking about and give you game suggestions, and then don't play any of these games and listen to our advice...then you won't enjoy any games on the Wii. You won't like the Wii. And it will not be the Wii or Nintendo's fault, but yours for not going and trying these games right now. So I hope you try some of these bro. Trust me you'll be very happy ;)

SilentHill: Shattered Memories, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Metroid: Other M, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Tales of Graces, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2, Sin & Punishment 2, Legend of Zelda Wii, Dragon Quest X, The Grinder, Gladiator A.D, Monado: Dawn of the New World, and Fragile.

If these all coming out within the next year or two doesn't please you, I can only say this: Dear God! I'd hate to have your standards!

Please go crawling back to your Xbox 360 for "teh hardcorez" shooters. Despite what you think, this is already the console for real gamers, if what you want is a bunch of generic violent games this is the wrong place.

Getix-01

So the Gamecube has a 3-D Mario game and a Zelda game.

And the Wii has Super Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Your point?

In addition it has another LoZ coming, New Super Mario Bros. Wii already out.

Would you like me to continue naming good games for it? I can go for a while. Little King's Story, No More Heroes, LostWinds 1 & 2, Metroid Prime 3, World of Goo, Mario Kart Wii, Punch Out!!, Mad World, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Paper Mario, Zack and Wiki: Quest For Barbaro's Treasure, Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10... have I made my point yet?

If not here's a brief comparison of systems:

Number of AAA exclusive games on each system according to Metacritic

Wii- 5

PS3- 4 (5 when Demon Soul's gets up to 90)

Xbox 360- 4

So the Wii has as many if not more "WOW" games than the other two systems.

First of all, if you value online multiplayer as the most integral part of your gaming experience, get a 360/PS3/PC, online is pretty much the one area where the Wii fails EPICALLY. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but Nintendo needs to get its act together with regards to online multiplayer. However, do NOT sell your Wii for now. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M look to be at the very minimum, must haves for any serious Wii owner going into next year. If you want to justify your Wii purchase now, actually BUY some more games. Seriously, just go get Metroid Prime Trilogy. No, it doesn't have online, but I cannot see how anybody wouldn't find any enjoyment in a compilation of one of the best trilogies in video gaming history, especially since each game in the trilogy is equipped with the excellent controls of Corruption. And if you would have actually have taken any initiative to play Corruption, you would have seen that as much effort was put in that game as Galaxy.

Wrong on so many levels its not even funny. Games can tell great stories with a very cinematic experience AND still be fun ALL IN ONE!

For me the only "wow factor" games that I have seen released on the Wii have been Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Those are all Nintendo games and one of them is actually a late Game Cube game port. I can not honestly think of any other Wii games that have had the level of polish and impressiveness. They are still currently the standard of what can be done on the Wii. Sure I have other games for the Wii then those and they are decent to good games but at the same time I'm under no allusion that they are not on the same level as the four games I listed before nor have they involved the same feelings those games have. Perhaps I'm a picky person. I am selective about what I buy and I do not like to waste money on games that might simply be okay. I've taken chances like that once or twice and been sort of disappointed in the end. However by comparison the Xbox 360 and PS3 have had several games that have left me with that wow feeling. I'm not expecting the same game that has been put out on the other two systems however there is a standard already set on the Wii and simply it isn't being meet by other developers and even Nintendo itself doesn't seem to be meeting it anymore either from what I can see.

By oh my god that cool I'll guess you mean AAA and AA games. According to you Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Wario Ware, World of Goo, Okami, No More Heroes, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Paper Mario, The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Tales of Symphonia, Little King's Story, Punch Out!!, Mario Kart, Zack and Wiki, A Boy and His Blob, Dead Space Extraction, Excitebots, House of the Dead: Overkill, De Blob, Bully: Scholarship Edition, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Muramasa, Cursed Mountain, Klonoa, Madworld, Deadly Creatures, Animal Crossing, Wario Land, Fire Emblem, and so on are not enough OH MY GOD THAT COOL GAMES!!! The only reason they aren't like that when they're all great to amazing games is because the wii's not an online system, so when you finish the story in the game you won't play the game much except with friends. If the games were on the 360 you'd be hearing about those games all the time.

Im just saying that there arent alot of epic games out there, most are just childrens games, or mario games. i think that some developer needs to step up and start making amazing wii epics.

you can just as well say the same about the other systems, how they only have childish, immature shooter games, or their mascot's games.

sorry for going off topic... why do people keep saying madworld is a really good game?

it didn't suck I give you that, but it ain't that great and I know people have diffrent opinions but common? it had mediocre story, mediocre gameplay and the "gore" got old really fast

yep, madworld was not that good... but it was the gore most wii owner's were looking for (even me) but... it was too boring for my tastes even with all the blood...... it's for people who want "senseless violence" or generic violence.... want epic? Okami is epic... it would even be good as a movie, IMO

I'd say that's a pretty good list if you ask me, and I didn't even name all the good titles.

Really, I think you should at the very least play all of those games to heck before you can really complain about a lack of good Wi-Fi games.

it's not an amazing game, but it's still got a great game, that's why its average rating is AA

-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
-Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
-Call of Duty: World at War
-The Conduit
-Mario Kart Wii
-Medal of Honor Heroes 2
-De Blob
-Madworld
-Dead Space Extraction
-House of the Dead: Overkill
-Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars
-Deadly Creatures
-Ssx Blur
-Shaun White Snowboarding
-A Boy and His Blob
-Okami

Upcoming Wii games to look forward to:

-Silent Hill: Homecoming
-No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
-Red Steel 2
-Sin & Punishment 2
-Arc Rise Fantasia
-Pikmin 3
-Legend of Zelda
-Metroid Other M
-Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
-Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers
-The Grinder

Galaxy IS epic. I'd suggest Metroid Prime Trilogy if you haven't picked it up yet.
