Do japanese games play on american ds' or is there a difference

Yes they do, I have 2 and they play perfectly, just in Japanese.

There is on phoenix wright but it is already out over here so that doesnt really matter...haha.

yeah there is no regional coding on DS's and DS games(unlike the PSP...)

From what I remember, neither the NDS nor the PSP have region codes. And the only "Japanese" you might need to worry about for the NDS is the one in its default menu. Otherwise the games play just like they would normally due on their native consoles.

Just to clear the confusion ANY ds games made in ANY countries will play in an american made ds, and vice versa(except china)

I'm glad to hear that! I just bought Tingle's Balloon Fight as the final Zelda game I need for my collection. I was afraid that I might not be able to play it.

Welcome to Gamespot, on this site we have something called trolls like the guy above you.

This thread was posted 3 years ago and all Japanese games worked on other DS's since the DSi had not yet come out. The DSi is region locked and Pokemon Black and White won't work on the newer models.
