Updating my Wii doesn't bother me much, except when I lose connection mid-way. This kind of ties in to the Wii Shop channel too, so your answer is forboth things.(Wii updates/shop channel)
I usually enjoy updates. The 360 and PS3 do it all the Time, and usually they are adding cool features. PS3 added Remote Start via PSP, Very Cool. 360 fixed their DVD Player, which I don't use anymore since getting the PS3, but I'm sure others appreciate it greatly. Updates sometimes are fixes for Bugs, but sometimes there are new goodies in there that make it all worth the while.
i don't mind it, i actually like it sometimes if something cool comes out of it, so i dont know what GS was talking about when they put in the Year End awards the Dubious honours under worst trends - Frequent System Updates and they directly pointed out the Wii and dont know what they are talking about since it doesnt update that much
You can't avoid updating your Wii because some games won't run on old firmware versions, but when that's the case the update is on the game disc. If you don't like taking the time to update online, just wait until you get a game that makes you update.

I don't believe you either. Are you trying to say, that when Nintendo makes an update it messes up your Wii, but doesn't do anything bad to anyone else's?
There aren't that many updates to have them bother me, so no. The only thing that bothers me is how little ability they add to the console with each one, like they string us along or they aren't working the devs fingers straight through to the bone, like they should be.

I like the Wii's uddates, most of the time, they added something new to the system.

Has there been any updates lately. I wouldn't know as I don't bother with Wiiconnect24, or whatever it's called as I use the Wi-Fi USB connector and, quite frankly, I'm not going to leave my computer on 24/7 (waste of power, IMO). Even if I wanted to connect to Wi-Fi I can't now, as last time I tried something was acting up and I couldn't make a connection.
Well, doesn't really matter anymore as I'm likely not to bother with Wi-Fi until Kirby Superstar appears on the VC, and I don't see that happening for a long time now.
I think it's good they continue to update the firmware with new stuff. It builds up some excitement from the fans and you get some new stuff for free. Not a bad deal IMO.
It bothers me not because it takes up time. But because nintendo is cutting functionality of things for some reason. First they make it so the gamecube freeloader doesn't work. Then, the wii remote won't even come on in gamecube games after the first update. At launch it used to be it'd come on, but all you could do is press the home button. All I'd ever need anyways.
