Do we know the origins of the Master Sword? It wasnt formed to defeat Ganondorf, thats for sure. Ocarina of Time is Ganondorf's first chronological appearance in the series, and at that time the Master Sword was already a legendary blade - what was the story behind it? Im sure it wasnt just forged as a seal between Hyrule and the Golden Realm. There must be a story behind it.
Yet Ocarina of Time seems to explain Link's appearance, doesnt it? He is dressed the way he is because of his adoptive race, the Kokiri. Why would an earlier Link wear the same tunic, with no reason behind it? Wasnt The Minish Cap preOcarina anyway? How did that game explain it?
Basically, yes, I really do want the woman in the concept art to be the master sword. I dont think its a dumb idea at all, and I really hope the game fits snugly before Ocarina of Time, explaining how and why the sword was forged, and who the woman is who sacrificed her spirit to make it. At least, I hope thats what the story is about. I could be wrong! :P
look, we don't know much about the mastersword, but for the fact that it can kick ganon's butt, right?
don't you think it's about time to know why the master sword has the power it has? maybe this "woman" (lol) hasimmensepower that we have not yet seen in a zelda game
i'm intrigued by this concept
Sure why not? The origin of the master sword should make an interesting storyline and explain alot of things we don't know or are unsure about in the Zelda universe. We don't know anything about the gameplay yet - if she actually is the source of whatever weaponry, while it seems unusual at first, we know that Nintendo won't screw it up if it's an important part of the game.
It seems like an interesting idea and I would like to see how it's done. And according to several of the diagrams in the other threads, her neck is the handle. M rated Zelda FTW?
yes it sounds like an intrigueing plot line, i just wish we hadn't figured it out so soon, it would have been a nice shocker, curse you spoilers
Sounds a bit sexist...anthonycgHow is that sexist at all?
Anyways, it will be very interesting to see how it all unfolds. It could be pretty amazing. I would like to know the origins of the Master Sword, and that may be what they are doing with this installment.
I agree, it would clearly be more appropriate for her to be a personification of a frying pan or washing machine.
...Hey-oooh.
Don't really care what they do with the master sword as long as the game is still fun in the end

This. x100.

Look up "Zelda 2010 concept art" on Google. It's new concept art for the next Zelda title for Wii. Anyways, yes. IT is an excellent idea cause it will explain alot in the series and also will probably fill some potholes in the series. And the woman seen in the concept art looks just like The Master Sword, Nintendo nailed the look! THis game is going to be a masterpiece in the Zelda series! We already know it, and only cause of this concept art! This has spread around the internet so fast and most Zelda fans know it now. And I think I speak for everyone that none of us had this much hype for a game from Nintendo since Super Smash Bros. Brawl. We're already so overhyped by this little peice of concept art! People are trying to think of theorys of how the plot will be, how she became The Master Sword, and people can already predict titles for this game like The Legend of Zelda: The Origin of The Sword! Nintendo has sure done us good this time around...Any pics of this woman? where can I see her

Thanks donaldo I saw the pic and I must say She is no master swords that's the ZORA prince can't remember his name
But now look at the position of Link and the "lady"
The lack of link's sword
And this picture: EDIT - Changed the pic since this one is more accurate
I also thought of something else, to support the fact that she may indeed be the master sword. Not only does she look like the sword but she is also lined up on Link's back like the sword is when he isnt using it.
At first I didn't buy it, but after noticing that Link's sword-wielding hand was empty (guess he'll be right-handed from Twilight Princess on), I'd say it may be right on the money. It would certainly be interesting to have our Navi/Tatl/Midna-esque guide character be the Master Sword itself. The Triforce is the embodiment of the three goddesses, so why the hell not?

Again... NO! He has no fishlike appearance whatsoever! SHE is The Master Sword!I very much like the idea on both story and gameplay fronts. Like evileb said, the origins of the master-sword would make a fascinating tale. Also, not having the blade of evils bane to back you up will make the game much more interesting as you can no longer take down dark foes as simply as before. More difficulty FTW! You'll just be running through the game with an ordinary sword, which at the very end will probably be possessed by her and transformed into The Master Sword.Head_of_gamesWell just cause she is a lady in the picture does not neccesarily mean you can switch on will for her to be The Master Sword or herself, like what they did for the wolf ability for TP. Maybe she helps you with certain tasks or puzzles and than you switch her to be The Master Sword again when you want to fight. On the other hand, what you said could also be very right, maybe you'll just be using another sword for the majority of this game, it really could go either way. And any way is fine with me!

Well, I think the whole point of the plot is going to be how the sword came about, not how a boy in green uses it AGAIN to cheaply defeat his foes. It may end up like Halo: ODST, were you are constantly reminded that you do not possess the extraordinary powers from previous games. I would like that.

no but i would really like if new zelda threads keep popping up dam hate to see what wud happen if had gotten a trailer
I don't really know , but Miyamoto has proved again and againthat he knows what we want more than we do.

What "women" are going to bind together to become the Master Sword?...and why?
I thought the Master Sword was simply the sword of evil's bane...I wasn't aware that human sacrifice was required...
As long as she doesn't say "Hey! Listen!" constantly through the game, I'm down with this idea. Imagine if you fight with her as the weapon... while she's in her spirit form. Link swings his arm like he's swinging a sword, and this spirit girl flies in slashing motions in front of him. Perhaps the faster you swing, the farther she flies forward (remember this will have WM+), so you can have more range of attack than previous games. Maybe they'll even bring back the beam/laser attacks that the first few Zelda games had.Michael-Smith
i like the idea. link could dictate and signal motions in real-time, and by swinging the wiimote in particular directions (with WM+), the girl could perform different actions.
