C'mon! Seriously, the girl has to be the Master Sword! And if it's a sequel to TP, than you may be able to use the Ordon Sword. And even it was a sequel, or if it wasn't, you may be able to use the Master Sword, and change her back to a girl, or vice-versa, like the choice to be a wolf or not in TP. And there are always other swords in Zelda games other than the Master Sword anyways....Because it reveals that there is going to be an awesome plotline. were not guaranteing anything we are only speculating why the woman is in the concept art.
First of all peoples I am not a Gdamn sexist!
I'm just saying that it's not an idea that really gets my interest. A human sacrifice to make the master sword? that's dumb and what if she is not the master sword?! What if you have to save her this time. Heck what if she IS like Midna and just helps him through the game. What about the portal/explosion in the background? what do you people make of it?
I don't know, I'm surprised no one has really talked about it much. I don't know. It couldn't be the Sacred Realm, could it? I wouldn't think so since the portal is red. What do you think it is Jackal1721?First of all peoples I am not a Gdamn sexist!

It could be the sacred realm, though, couldnt it? Before Ganandorf entered it in Ocarina of Time, the races had fought wars looking for the entrance, and the Sages built the temple of time in order to seal the Golden Power away. Presumably, the Master Sword was forged for this purpose as well, because it was recognised by Navi as a legendary blade, implying it already had a history as the sword of evils bane.
It fits in. The portal could easily be the entrance into the sacred realm, and Link is going to defend it from an evil we havent encountered yet, an evil so great the Master Sword had to be forged. The girl HAS to be the sword. Her features are too familiar, and Miyamoto's hint practically confirms it. I dont think it would be like a human sacrifice. The sages have given up their existance before, right? And it required spiritual prayer to give the Master Sword back its power in Wind Waker. Maybe the girl is a sage who gives her essence to conquer whatever evil is in the sacred realm?
We wont know til next year, or even the year after next. Its fun to speculate, though :)

fire, kiln, sword... kind of fits in.
i think the girl is a 'kami' spirit. kami are like spirits in japanese shinto religion. she's probably the spirit of the master sword.
how is she teh mastor sword when she resembles a great fairy from wind waker fugwit
what are you talking about?

It is fun to speculate, indeed. And now I beleive your point. Yes, it could easily be the Sacred Realm. It is just colored red probably because of the evil force we have not yet seen, just like you said. It would fit in, it would make sense. Great speculation.[QUOTE="Jackal1721"]Who said anything about a human sacrifice? Explain why you said that please, cause I just don't understand.... Oh no many people have talked about a human sacrifice guy. I think it may be a portal would make for an EPIC!!! adventure right?A human sacrifice to make the master sword?

I think I speak for most people when I say, "who the hell cares?" Seriously, I just want a new Zelda, one that redefines the 3D archetype that was created with OOT like how Galaxy did with the Mario 64 formula. I care little whether the girl is the personification of the Master Sword or Tingle after his sex change.
This post made me think. A lot. Enough to make me super excited for what this new Zelda game may offer. :DDo we know the origins of the Master Sword? It wasnt formed to defeat Ganondorf, thats for sure. Ocarina of Time is Ganondorf's first chronological appearance in the series, and at that time the Master Sword was already a legendary blade - what was the story behind it? Im sure it wasnt just forged as a seal between Hyrule and the Golden Realm. There must be a story behind it.
Yet Ocarina of Time seems to explain Link's appearance, doesnt it? He is dressed the way he is because of his adoptive race, the Kokiri. Why would an earlier Link wear the same tunic, with no reason behind it? Wasnt The Minish Cap preOcarina anyway? How did that game explain it?
Basically, yes, I really do want the woman in the concept art to be the master sword. I dont think its a dumb idea at all, and I really hope the game fits snugly before Ocarina of Time, explaining how and why the sword was forged, and who the woman is who sacrificed her spirit to make it. At least, I hope thats what the story is about. I could be wrong! :P

Who even said that this statue is a sword anyway? If this is just speculation people need to stop, and think that maybe there are other more logical reasons why Link has no sword.
Of course it's all speculation at this point, but right now this is the most logical reason why Link does not have his sword. I personaly could care less what the story is about as long as it's good, and hope that there is much more to it than just a Sword Spirit, which i'm sure there is, but do youhave a more logical reason at this point?Who even said that this statue is a sword anyway? If this is just speculation people need to stop, and think that maybe there are other more logical reasons why Link has no sword.

Sure why not? The origin of the master sword should make an interesting storyline and explain alot of things we don't know or are unsure about in the Zelda universe. We don't know anything about the gameplay yet - if she actually is the source of whatever weaponry, while it seems unusual at first, we know that Nintendo won't screw it up if it's an important part of the game.

But what I find a little worrying is that this will just make the whole chronology problem a lot more confusing (like it wasnt enough). Then again, it might be made a hell of a lot more easier to understand. Gah, damn you Nintendo!

it's probably more of a problem with the fans. i saw some insane FAQ thread on gamefaqs recently - this guy had written pages and pages of detailed information and charts and diagrams, but it was all speculation and he couldn't come to any firm conclusion.

I hope this game makes the timeline a little easier to understand. Or it could make more complex too, like freek666 said. Yeah, it really could go either way.Ok I've got some cool ideas for the story...
Option 1 - It said something about the hero's garb being passed down through time to the hero's of Hyrule. Link is the origional in Zelda Wii. The outfit and the Sword seem to trail each other pretty closely so I imagine we may get some background on the clothes too. Anyways, Link grows up in a small village and gets old enough to marry this girl. She if frail and doesn't have very good health but she has a really sweet spirit. One night she dies in Link's arms. Torn with greif he runs into the forest during a huge storm. He finally comes back defeated and starving, only to find his village in ruins, and his house in shambles. Link stumbles around blindy eating what scraps of food were left, then he finds his horse is still in his barn. He decides to set out for Hyrule proper to find out whats going on.
Maybe that would be too much but you know if his wifes spirit went into this sword that would be much more meaningful. I want you to make me emotional Nintendo!!
Option 2 - This is like 10 years after TP that link in the picture sure looks similar... I don't know if link would be married to Zelda or not but anyways, peace is all over Hryule, and Link is living the good life. Then the master sword he always has with him starts acting up something fierce and link heads back to the sacred grove. Suddenly the sword explodes and this spirit comes out. She has been trapped there for like forever and came out because she needs even more power to defeat what is coming. Without asking if he wants to she opens a portal and sends link in thus giving us the art. They end up on a huge adventure in some other time or place or both.
