Maybe one to shut some people up.

On second thought screw them they will get a Wii anyways after they get tired of buying every game twice, by then 3rd parties would have developed some.
They didn't develop Geist they only published it and it wasn't really a FPS in the traditional same way Metroid isn't. Anyway there is more than enough FPS on the market right now, Nintendo really doesn't need to add it the avalanche. They tried last generation. I never played Geist so I don't know how it turned out.Haziqonfire
If Nintendo can come up with a truly unique concept on the genre and wants to give it a shot, who am I to stop them? :P However, I don't think Nintendo should do this for the sake of winning over the Halo and Killzone crowd. President Reggie Fils-Aime made one heck of a prediction when he said games like The Conduit and Dead Space: Extraction would do just that, and well... it's not looking good so far. :P Not to mention that Nintendo's last published FPS, Geist, wasn't as polished as many might have hoped for. In the sense of trying to win fans of the genre, Nintendo's not doing so well, so I don't think that should be a focus at the moment.
Also, I think many people decided to go with the Wii because it would be a break from the FPSs that have dominated the other systems that past couple of gens. Therefore, unless this game concept was really something special, I'm not sure how many people would eat it up. Heck, even Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, as superb as it is, don't really have the sales numbers to justify the quality, so that says something about how the genre itself is seen on the system.
No. No. And No.

Your opinion is out. Forever (no reasons why they shouldn't).
Yes they should. It would bring "hardcore" gamers crawling back to the Wii,because I know it would be awesome, its freakin Nintendo. Yes,they would complain about graphics and I would say one thing to them "WHO GIVES A ****". As long as it's not based on a current franchise like "Super Mario Massicure" or something like that. A whole new franchise with all new characters. Knowing gaming these days,it would be based on WWII or a futuristic war. It would be cool if you could unlock skins that let you play as Nintendo characters but as the main character,no.
No, but they should make other 1st-person games, like 1st-Person-Sword Fighting with the WiiMotionPlus. After playing Wii Sports Resort, I can see how this kind of genre can be the next best thing since FPSs since it's very easy to control. Maybe Nintendo can work with Lucas Arts to give us that kind of game with Lightsabres.
We already have way too many FPSs, and they're all getting boring. The Conduit and Metroid Prime Trilogy is all the Wii needs for FPSs.
[QUOTE="CD-i_ownz"]Someone already bought Free Radical, I can't remember who it was. They should, but in the same way Super Smash Bros is a fighting game. Grab Free Radical by the throat and force them to make a Wii Timesplitters:P

You should see if you can find it. I thought it was great.
I've seen it around for like $9 or $5.. but I always thought it got REALLY bad scores so I never thought of picking it up - then today I looked at reviews and they were pretty positive :? So, I dont know why I was being dumb when I was younger lol.Sure would be sweet to see Nintendo's take on a FPS. The Wii-more has potential so I see no problem in it, yes.
I'd much rather them work on making more games like Legend of Zelda, Mario, Pikmin, and such games rather than them move towards FPSes. There are enough good FPSes that are being made for Wii (The Grinder, Red Steel 2, and COD: MW being made, The Conduit and COD: WaW already made), and Nintendo should stick with what they do best.
I think part of the reason they won't do one is because characters are such an important part of nintendo games. You spend the whole game looking at zelda or mario and they become characters to you. In FPS games you can't see who you're playing. In games like Halo, MC pretty much has no personality. Can anyone name the main character from Haze or Killzone? The only reason it worked in Metroid Prime is because they gave samas a lot of personality with the her reflection in her visor, or her grunts when hit.
For nintendo to do a shooter, it couldn't just be a nameless soldier with a gun.
I guess a kid who was kidnapped at the age of six to be recruited into the UNSC for a special augmentation process called the SPARTAN-II project, having 70 something kids go through it with less than half of them even making it alive, to be trained really hard and being teamed up with groups of 3, to take out special tasks soldiers called odsts at the age of 8 by himself, having his best friend die while he was sacrificing himself to ensure the destruction of a Covenant warship, having gone through so many missions only to end up being stuck in space at the end of the war.. Yeah. Also, Red Steel's main character had no personality, but there are many FPS with a main character that you can know him by playing the game, and Halo is one of them(Donno about Killzone, never played it. COD, ehh, it doesn't really focus on the mainn character that much, etc etc). And Halo fans like me aren't one to complain about Wii's graphics being last gen when the game itself has mediocre graphics (I love Halo but it's the truth)I think part of the reason they won't do one is because characters are such an important part of nintendo games. yeah, that could be really interesting. i would love to see a unique fps for the wii. and maybe they could get the online right. The conduit has to many bugs and cheaters, maybe if nintendo does it then they will get it right.
The only problem with nintendo working on an FPS besides metroid is that japan doesnt seem like it has much of a FPS market.

I am so glad to hear someone be reasonable about this topic. That doesnt happen very often. Yeah, halo has PLENTY of personality and originality. to say otherwise would just be either pure fanboyism, ignorance or stupidity. Halo is much more unique than kz2, andhas more personality in many ways than COD.
master chief has plenty of character, and an excellent backstory. i just wish more peope new about it.
No, I don't think they should waste their time on this. It'd be hard to see how they'd do it as only Samus springs to mind as a natural candidate for a serious FPS game. Most other Nintendo characters are too cute, so the game would involve things like Mario shooting a pipe gun or Princess Peach shooting stars from her wand. As a casual FPS player I wouldn't mind this as they could come up with some really creative maps. Anyone who's into FPS in a big probably already has a 360/PS3/PC and won't look twice at the Wii for FPS. Online (patches, mods, maps, downloads) needs to be totally revolutionised on the Wii before it's going to be taken seriously as a platform by hardcore FPS gamers.

Yeah, people think MC is a bland dull war machine, but all he's gone through, of course it would seem as if he just wants to "kill aliens" when he's just trying to save the universe, along with the UNSC (humans)No. FPS' tend to judged nowadays on how excellent the graphics are since most engines are VERY similar anyways. The Wii just can't compete in the FPS genre.

Shadowtails9000
graphically, you're right. the wii cant compete. but the controls are PERFECT for fps gameplay. its as close to the mouse and keyboard controls as a console has ever gotten.
i dont see how they could actully make a better FPS then their FPA metroid i mean seriously, the counduit is basicly the wii version of killzone and halo, generic crapDeadEndPandaHere we go again... It's not more generic than a typical save the princess beat the bad guy game, I don't know about Killzone but there is nothing generic about Halo. Tink there is? I would be happy to respond and destroy your "all fps are generic and brown and lame because theyre not for the wii besides the conduit which also sucks" logic.
And metroid prime was an FPS, dude. You're just calling it an FPA since you tend to agree with everything Nintendo says, and because you don't want to admit that it's a good fps (the best FPS on the Wii, that's for sure)
No, I rather have them stick with what they do best, deliver experiences you won't find anywhere else. A standard FPS is really something I don't see them doing.

well i dont see how my logic is worse then other people i see around here lol
and besides, i called it a FPA so those fanboys dont start the **** about "the wii will never have a good FPS, only nintendo fanboys call it a FPS , its actully a FPA, nintendo even said so"
i personaly would call it a FPS
and besides generic dosent mean bad, its just that those games are so similar to each other its like the developers dont even try.
and besides, of course save the princess story of games like mario and zelda are generic too, but the fact that there is 1 game from each of the series and then they take a 3 years break, while FPS come out every singe week and get more gray for each time.
i could play zelda each time there is a new game becouse of the time they take to get a new game out,
it would lose its magic if it came out constantly
