A third person shooter would be more Nintendo's approach.

You know, the gaming world has had enough FPSs. But for some reason, I think if Nintendo were to make it, it would just seem...different and not have as much of a repetitive feel to them.
it baffles me they havn't got an arcady shooter with shells, goombas, princesses shooting each other etc. It really does baffle me.rgame1If done in a cutesy, whimsical manner (you know, like how Nintendo general does it), then yes, it also baffles me.
As for one of those hardcore "LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOD THAT CAME OUT OF THAT GUY'S HEAD WHOA" FPSers that plague the game industry, well, I think that'll be pretty neat too, in a bizarre anti-Nintendo kind of way. I just can't see that happening unless a Western developer, like maybe a Retro Studios (cough), takes up the reins.
... Well Nintendo seems to be trying to sorta reach out to the FPS audience; allowing that new Dead Space game, even if it is not so much an FPS than a rail shooter on steroids... All the same, Mario always made excellent spin-offs; I think 'Super Mario Shotgun' would be an awesome FPS... But seriously; I'll stick to PC for FPS gaming, the Wii does pretty good, but the only types of games I care about graphics are FPS' as the graphics are the biggest draws to those sorts of games to me. I'd play it; and say 'Halo had better graphics; why play this last-gen graphic'd game when I can play an authentic last-gen game with superior gameplay. No offense; but if I had to choose between playing Halo1 or 2 and 'The Conduit'; I'd pick Halo. Now if a company dedicated itself into making an AUTHENTIC FPS title with all the works; I may change my mind, but I don't see that day coming anytime soon. Though I might try out Call of Duty and see if I can prove myself wrong one day.
They should pick up where Free Radical left off for Star Wars Battlefront 3!!! How awesome would that be? Extremely unlikely :(. I wish they would just to make all of those 360 and ps3 fanboys mad lol.
giest is fps so they already have, goldeneye and perfect dark were , ,
and they were made by rare/nintendo so ya i dont think i care, timesplitters 3 is still fun enough and is better believe it or not , then most average fpses today you dont even see map makers in todays fpses suprisingly enough , nor the quntity of content even though these disc hold more or the same if they stop oworrying about how realistic these fpses look then maybe wed have this gens equivalent of timesplitters pd or goldeneye , ,
Geist? Ha, that game sucked. And it wasn't even made by Nintendo, it was made by N-Space. I can't believe I own that game. And I don't think Perfect Dark and Goldeneye count, since I assume we're talking about Nintendo developed games and not just Nintendo published games. And I don't understand the point of throwing Time Splitters in there. Sure, great games, but it's not really a Nintendo property (I guess it's Crytek property now, who knows?)giest is fps so they already have, goldeneye and perfect dark were , ,

[QUOTE="GabuEx"][QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]I never played Geist so I don't know how it turned out.Haziqonfire
You should see if you can find it. I thought it was great.
I've seen it around for like $9 or $5.. but I always thought it got REALLY bad scores so I never thought of picking it up - then today I looked at reviews and they were pretty positive :? So, I dont know why I was being dumb when I was younger lol.I have it and I think it was better than I expected. The shooting portions are not that great, but it has a cool aspect where you're jumping out of living things like objects, people and animals. That alone was worth playing it.Assuming it was unique, I'd have no qualm against it. I don't think they'd ever develope one since it's not Nintendo's image. Metroid Prime 1/2/3 is the closest thing to an FPS Nintendo will directly support probably. It's all fantasy violence, no swearing, no blood, nothing too hardcore. However you don't need blood to make a hardcore FPS, take for instance: Battlefield 2. A game like Team Fortress 2 (without the blood and guts) would seem to be right up Nintendo's alley. While Nintendo has the creativity to create something unique, I think it should be left up the third party developers, though I would support a Wii-make of Geist (though yes, it was only published by them, not developed). Geist was interesting in idea, but heavily flawed in execution.
No, but they should make other 1st-person games, like 1st-Person-Sword Fighting with the WiiMotionPlus. After playing Wii Sports Resort, I can see how this kind of genre can be the next best thing since FPSs since it's very easy to control. Maybe Nintendo can work with Lucas Arts to give us that kind of game with Lightsabres.
We already have way too many FPSs, and they're all getting boring. The Conduit and Metroid Prime Trilogy is all the Wii needs for FPSs.
DS_Lightning21
they r making Red Steel 2 and they did make wii sports
No, because when the Wii actually get a FPS, people would likely complain that its got last-gen graphics and that its generic. After all, isn't that what happened with The Conduit?Zeus-Guy
I think that had more to do with the fact that it had an incredibly poorly utilized graphics engine and was generic. :P
The way you said generic made them seem bad, they're not similar at all besides both of them being FPS. I haven't played Killzone but I've seen videos and it looks nothing like Halo, and Halo was and never will be gray to begin with, it's one of the only FPS that actually uses colors. Imagine that. So, Halo 1 was released 2001, Halo 2 in 2004/5, and 3 in 2007, ODST in 2009 and Reach will be out in 2010 (Not counting Halo Wars) and Reach will be the last Halo made by Bungie, anyway, the release dates aren't really that close to each other besides ODST and Reach. ODST was in production by the time Halo 3 was released, so about 2 years seems allright.Arbiterisl33t69
i think you got me wrong here, you where speaking of "generic save the princess story" and i said that generic shooters come out every week, while zelda and mario on the other hand take their time, the fact that halo and killzone do the same as all other FPS, while mario and zelda do what they have always done, but there are less mario or zelda clones then halo clones.
nintendo isnt doing something diffrent and new this gen, its just that nintendo is doing the same they have been doing always,
its only that others go with whats popular atm, and thats FPS.
after owning a ps2 last gen i missed the days with N64, thats why i went this way

seems to me like your confusing mature and hardcore, but ya

What makes The Conduit generic compared to other FPS?
Definitely. Nintendo needs to bring a Mario FPS to the Wii with all the Mario craziness.psychobrew
Didn't they do that with Yoshi's Safari?

No. Yoshi's Safari was more like a driving game anyway. I'm talking about mixing Battlefield or COD multiplayer with Mario characters and the craziness they bring (bombs and grenades that shrink or slow your opponents, make you grow in to a giant, or make you super fast, etc).

idk, i was never that impressed with what rare has done. other than perfect dark and golden eye. But now Rare has gone down hill. i dont think they have had a AAA release in like 10 years.
Definitely. Nintendo needs to bring a Mario FPS to the Wii with all the Mario craziness.psychobrewmeh, that sounds like a terrible idea. I think Nintendo should leave the FPS genre to developers who live on beating that dead horse, Nintendo should stick to keeping platformers and action adventure titles relevant, there are barely any left in the sea of shooters and action games that are basically shooters.

Well don't you remember Super Mario Galaxy that game had pretty good graphics. If Nintendo puts alot of effort into a game they can make good graphics for Wii. The Conduit wasnt good cuz they didnt put effort into it and it wasnt entirely made by Nintendo.

I dont think they should cuz mario doesnt suit FPS

I haven't forgotten about the graphics in Super Mario Galaxy; the problem is people criticize the Wii's graphics just because they're not on the same level as the other consoles.I think they can do more with the Geist formula they had goin with N-Space. From what I remember they were collaberating on it or something.
