I just want to see a HDD cuz then Wii-Ware developers can make bigger and better games. They have very little space to make a game right now

If there is not some problem with SD-card reading times, I'd say SD would be ideal. Their cheap. Everyone already have them, so developers wouldn't have to worry about how many people could buy their games. Plus there is no reason to make bigger downloadable games than lets say one Gigabyte.

it won't cost as much as the 360 one, Nintendo is known for cheap but quality stuff. Wii the cheapest console. My SNES is still working even today, and I got it over a decade ago.

I sure hope so.

Although, this is a much bigger problem than Nintendo thinks. I've been a firm believer in just having the SD act as a harddrive to where you can play games off of one, but seeing as how it took more than 5 minutes to copy Ocarina of Time onto my card, that may not be possible.

I need more storage for my games. It's unacceptable that I have to copy and delete and/or re-download my games anytime I want to download something when I have a page and a half of channels left. The whole 512MB thing wasn't thought through enough.

Nintendo's not stupid.

Well, they were stupid enough to release a next gen console (with a virtual console, and presumably with some idea of DLC and wiiware) with only half a gig of memory. 4 GB would have been sufficient, 2GB probably not for me but I could see why they would think that way. But 1/2 a GB? Big FAIL.

Hopefully. Sooner or later, people will need a HDD. There's going to be so many VC, and WiiWare games.

while it's possible a HDD could be announced at E3, I believe it to be very unlikely... I'm under the suspiscion that Iwata said what he did, to try and appease the "smaller population"... I don't believe we'll see a HDD announcement, atleast for awhile...I'd gurantee if you went to a local retailer and conducted a poll about "Who needs a HDD?"...less than half would tell you no...while there might be a huge splash made about a HDD on sites like this and other ones, the overall need just isn't there.

They just don't know how to make a HDD xD + they are in love with flash memory...the easiest way to get more memory to the wii, would just be USB support of a external hard drive and im happy... they don't have to make an officiall wii hdd.

If they do announce it and say you will need a new version of the wii than im gonna hate Nintendo for the rest of my life ^^

I would certainly hope. However I think there are still possibilities with the SD card slot that they haven't explored, like the option to save something directly to the SD card and then have it still be playable on the wii with out having to upload it back to the wii.

I think they are going to propose a solution, not necessarily an HDD. But they really need to worry about that.

I really want news on Animal Crossing. Also, I want a solution to the lack of Wii Memory! Hopefully they use the Nintendo Channel really well during E3, I would love it if Nintendo gave us demos (for DS) and videos of games that people at E3 are playing. :)

A harddrive is not just for downloading VC and WiiWare games, it also opens up options for game developers to include downloadable extra content which is currently impossible. Imagine if Brawl had this it would be so great.

If they could manufacture enough systems, the best thing to do would be to make 2 SKU's. One of them would be the one we have now and the second would swap Wii Sports for an HDD or some kind of flash memory.

Of course Iwata already acknowledged that they needed to add more memory because their are some people (even though they are in the Minority of people that own a Wii) are complaining about the Storage issue so I think they will have a firmware update so you would be able to read the games off of SD cards, or having an update so you can plug in External HDDs through the USB ports.

No. E3 is about games, why confuse consumers with hardware?

We've been wrong about Nintendo the last 5 years, so why hype yourself up for Nintendo to disappoint again? Just sit back, watch the conference, and pick up tidbits they give us.

At least this year we have a channel to watch it on, I' m more about what appears there than I am about the main event.

If Nintendo DOES NOT come out with a Hard Drive, then I might sell my Wii. theres no point in having a system and not having space for game saves.

i would really hope they do it because i dont want to have to fork out another $170 for GH4 (on another console)later this year because the wii wont have DLC. if they decide to streamline FC and give a HDD, they'll do very well

I'd love to see an optional hard drive. anything optional can't hurt as long as it's thought out well and the manufacturing costs are cheap. Hopefully nintendo doesn't use a proprietary format so that standard USB hard drives or USB flash drives can be used with the wii. I just don't want to spend any more money on wii hardware for a while. Right now I'd rather be able to save/load a game to the SD card and be able to run VC/wiiware games off of the SD card since I have a 2GB SD card which would suit me fine for my needs. I'm thinking a toggle in the wii options should make all games save/load to and from the SD card, external hard drive or internal hard drive.

I think expanded functionality with SD cards would go a long way to helping the situation.

Personally, I believe Games Radar has a good idea. We all know that Animal Crossing is coming sooner or later, and we also all know that it would be a title suited to expanded online functionality, including DLC. Nintendo has been happy selling peripherals and hardware bundled with software (Mario Kart, Links Crossbow Training, The Wii itself and Wii Fit). What if Nintendo built up Animal Crossing as their next big title for the holiday period, and bundled it with a 20gig hard drive?

The thing would be ergonomically designed so it slotted into one of the usb ports directly, and it would curve around and sit nicely next to the console. I dont think thats really a stretch of the imagination.

Then again, we also all know that Nintendo is very stubborn about such things. At least the high ups know about the issue, and may well be looking at a resolution. I really hope they do something like this.

Too many complaints about low storage, they need an HDD. SD cards wouldn't be bad if they were considered a part of the total system memory and didn't require the copy game. But at only 2 GB per card supported (if I remember right) that still isn't too much space to go on, either firmware updating for larger card support or the HDD would be needed.

If Nintendo can just make an update to enable the use of USB external hard drives, then there wouldn't be no need for them to make thei own hard drive.

I hear there is talk of Nintendo being stupid for releasing a console with such a small storage. I think that is super inconvenient, but lets think of the most expensive console, that is supposed to be central hub for all kinds of digital media and television recording is coming soon. I find it crap to download games for couple of minutes again and again. But what I find ridiculously hard burden, is a monstrously expensive machine having to install games for half an hour a piece, because they thought rather unwisely to put BlueRay alongside such a small harddrive in it. Games are collecting dust because you just can't erase a game that is currently played.

I don't think that nintendo will, even in a interview the president of Nintendo did with ign, he said that he believes that there are some owned that have a maxed memory that the most of wii owners are doing fine on the flash memory, its a shame now with wii ware my memory is only 600 and that go soon enough after i get more wii points
