Its ridiculous to ask other people if its worth the purchase price when its all about opinion.

Then I guess asking people what games are worth purchasing is ridiculous, because it's all about opinion? :?
And Sony did NOT take losses with the PSP. Some people seem to assume that they did simply because Nintendo "beat" them with the DS, but Sony did profit, quite a bit, off of the PSP.
The $250 price tag is pretty ridiculous, for $50 more you could get a 360 or a PS3, both of which have more powerful technology, more features, better libraries etc. They should at least have a good bundle available... If it was $250 for the system plus OoT, that would be a much more attractive option...
Lol, why are you comparing the price and technology of a portable/handheld system with home consoles. First of all, making technology that's small enough to fit into a portable system costs more than making it does for the bigger home consoles. Secondly, you are comparing the price of new technology (3DS) to the price of systems wich have been on the market for over 4/5 years and therefore dropped in price lots of times already.
If i recall the PSP started at a price of 250/300 too. I assume you did find that price ridiculous too, cause if you didn't then it would mean that you're bias.
To awnser the main topic though, for me the 3DS's library isn't strong enough to warrent a purchase just yet. I'll wait until there are some more good games woth playing for me, like Cave man, Star Fox 64, Resident Evil, Mario, Kid Icarus, etc. And if theres a price drop or new version of the system in the meantime than that's just a bonus.
It is completely fair to compare the 3DS to those two. Why? Because, when I go to Gamestop, they are both on the shelves with price tags on them. Do you think Nintendo put this price tag on it and was like "well the 360 and PS3 are home consoles, so our only competition is what is portable!" ? No. They knew that their product would be competing with every gaming device with a price similar to its price. Doesn't matter if it cost more for them to make the 3DS than it cost Sony/MS to make the PS3/360, or whether or not those two have had price drops, because right NOW, $50 could get you a much more powerful piece of technology with a vastly better library of games available. It's really that simple. No consumer is going to sit in Gamestop and be like "well, it cost Nintendo a lot to make this, so I guess me spending $250 for it is justified!" No one cares lol, what they care about is how much they are shelling out and how much they are getting for it. And if someone could shell out $50 for a PS3 and get more bang for their buck, and the assurance that there would be tons of great games, from all genres, readily available, there would be few reasons they would decide to grab the 3DS (portability, already having a home console, etc...).
And I thought the PSP was somewhat overpriced, but I needed a new MP3 player at the time, and being able to watch movies on a much larger screen than my iPod's was appealing. That's not even mentioning the games.
