NOt at all. I loved Twilight princess, and thought Phantom Hourglass was good. I think all Zelda games are great, with the excption of the NES Zeldas, where Zelda 1 was just okay, and Zelda 2 was very disappointing, IMO.

You just set yourself up for a nostalgia crazed 30 year old to flame you . Anyway ya the original LoZ was good but if you're going to say it's better than Twilight Princess I'm going to have to ask you to step outside. SNES however, A Link to the Past... got yourself a case there, that's good stuff, even if I can't figure out where to go half the time :P.

The formula is far too predictable. Enter dungeon. Find item. Use item to solve dungeon. Use item to defeat boss. Never use item again.

Don't get me wrong, the excellent dungeon-design makes the Zelda games great, but in Twilight Princess I already felt that despite the game's overall polish (I think it's fantastic, I rated it 9.5 so don't get me wrong here) that it just wasn't a truly unique experience.

That and the bosses are ridiculous pushovers. You hit them three times and they die. They never change their patterns. The bosses are the weakest part of the dungeons. Solving puzzles is really rewarding, but the formula is a little rote right now. The next one had better be different or it simply won't stack up any more.

Yeah I never used the Iron Boots after the Goron Mines or the Bow and Arrow or the Claw Shot after the Lakebed Temple, I never used the Domino Rod after he Temple of Time. A bit an over exaggeration there wouldn't you say?

Uh, of course it's an over-exxageration. The fact remains that the items become second-fiddle to each successive new one you find in each dungeon.

in my opinion, no. how can somthing go down if it dosent evolve? it might go down hill for you only because it is the same game you played the last time around, but general speaking, it's not going down but it's not going up either

No, I feel the games are getting better and bigger. The only things that I think have hit a plateau and is causing this problem is a repetitive story. Yeh it changes somewhat, gets more detailed but it still follows the same generic outline that has been seen in all the Zeldas. I would like an epic original story with many twists and turns, epic moments that are scene in games like metal gear solid. Now Im not asking for a metal gear story zelda, just something with more depth. Also the difficulty needs to be adjusted. Other than that the Zelda's keep continue to get better and I think are the best action/adventure game out there. It really immerses you in Hyrule. LttP was amazing, long, hard, and epic. OoT brought that into 3d. MM was my favorite game, the difficulty was imo the hardest. added new elements and great characters. Still remember that games moments. WW had an amazing story, more detailed, felt very epic. TP just took everything that was great about the zelda series and put it in 1 game. I think this was the problem. They just copied and pasted the great things about the zelda, which makes the "best" zelda game, but it felt too much like the other games which i think was its downfall.

I don't think so.

Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass were awesome.

However I don't have high hopes for the next DS one.

You didn't play much of Wind Waker but nonetheless allow your opinion of it be formed by what you heard about it? :P

Anyway, no. I think that, contrary to popular opinion, the Zelda series is getting better, not worse. Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess I all consider to be better than Ocarina of Time. Quite frankly I think people tend to have their memories of Ocarina of Time heavily colored by nostalgia - I played it again after a long time away from it, and I found that it just didn't hold up to later games.

GabuEx
you THINK nostalgia affects people's opinions on OoT? :P to be honest, i only played ocarina of time on the gamecube port, and that years after it was released. sure, it's a nice game, but the newer ones are still better. the last zelda i played (beat it a couple months ago) was majora's mask (played on the N64). people tend to complain about it. i say it's better (although shorter in terms of main dungeons) than ocarina of time, but the newer are still better. people have to stop saying "but it was good for it's time" as an argument on how a game's supposedly better than another.
