i haven't called nintendo personally, but i have been all over nintendowifi.com, which only tells PC users where to find WEP keys, not Mac users. their instructions are written for PCs, not Macs. They are Mac prejudice...

Well if you put it that way, I'd also say I agree that the WEP key is indeed on the router. Being a PC person myself who only works on macs when I have to I was assuming it had something to do with the airport settings or something that was tripping this user up.

I did a quick google and found the page I posted that talked about problems assigning WEP keys with a Mac so I figured it may help.

Beyond that the WEP key is indeed done through the routher and is usually assigned by you 26 digits being the most common I believe.

In your Applications Folder there is a folder called "Utilities." Open it. Inside you will find the AirPort Admin Utility. Open it. If you have WEP enabled, look under the "summary" tab. There is something there called, I think, "network equivalent password." This is your WEP key.

If you don't see it, than you can try selecting your base from the list, clicking on "configure" (you will be prompted for your base station password). Next, click on the password icon at the top of the window. A window will open revealing your network equivalent password. Don't see anything?:

I'm assuming you are using an Airport wireless router. If you are not, then you may need to set your password to a hexadecimal string, preceded by a dollar sign, for example: $123456789a. Make sure Airport is on. Select "Create Network" from the Airport status menu. Click "Show Options." Select "Enable Encryption (using WEP)." The password you create is your WEP key. Let me know if you have questions...
