Someone revived this thread I see. Well, it wasn't too old yet I suppose.

But the point is... It doesn't look like there will be any sort of achievement system. We have 3DS's, it wasn't there at launch, and unless Nintendo sees a large fan demand for it they probably wouldn't go to the trouble of making such a system and releasing it through a system update now.

I have a 360, I enjoy achievements for the most part. Nintendo could probably make some neat achievements for their games, especially Animal Crossing and Advance Wars. They could still put achievement-like systems in those games if they wanted to. But achievements weren't a focus of this system when it came out, the 3D was.

It should have achivements. People like to whine about them saying that they add nothing to games, they detract from them, etc. Here's a thought - ignore them. I don't care for achievements as achievements, but I love how they act as a way to have little competitions with friends and act as a gaming record of sorts. The 360, PS3, Steam, WoW, and iOS all have implemented achievements. They're a way to add a neat social twist to games and for those that get really into them, added value in the form of incentives to try things they might not otherwise.

That's true DJ, people that don't like achievements can simply ignore them.

However, Nintendo was talking about adding a feature to all of there games wherein the player could skip to anywhere in the game if a certain part was too difficult for them. I wasn't too pleased with the concept myself. It seems like they have stopped embracing the idea, but other people told me to just ignore it like you say people should ignore achievements. I don't think it would be easy to ignore a feature that lets you skip through a game.

But regardless, there isn't any achievement system on the 3DS. So unless Nintendo should decide to make one, I guess we don't have to worry about achievement-haters achievement-hating.

They're a way to add a shallow twist. Something that doesn't deserve to exist.

They don't even have a PM system xD Nintendo is soooo far behind with their online services (yeah, IMO Achievements are an online service because they're useless if nobody can see them)

Nobody cares about your achievements as much as you do. Most of my friends have given up on them unless they really like the games enough to play them for so long.

god i hope the 3DS never gets achieviements...

i own a 360/ps3 and although i never ever go for them i still get people comparing my scores with theirs.. oh i havent spent weeks collecting 200 feathers so i must be a worse gamer than them... :)

i notice people playing games they would never play in a million years just to get cheap achieviements or grinding out a monotonous task getting bored senseless. not to mention once they have all achieviements, thats it game over, no point in revisiting that game again...

what i would like to see on 3DS is a decent messenger system and some sort of friend leadboard type thing... when i have some fantastic matches in streetfighter with someone i would like the option to send a message and maybe swap friend codes..!

i like them.. "it adds some slight" replay value..i also like that you can brag with your score...it tells you who is better at a certain game lol.

but not necessary really.

The 3DS sold so many units in Japan already that Nintendo have chosen to call back some of the ones that where suppose to be going to the rest of the world to help try to cover the demand.spike6958

Can you go into detail about this demand resupply that you speak of?

Nope, according to nintendo, we don't want themdarkspineslayer

Well, I wonder if it's possible -- and maybe this was their intent from the beginning -- to earn coins for doing certain things in-game to be used to purchase new items for StreePass Plaza. I would think that all it would require would be some type of firmware update from Nintendo. That would be a pretty cool achievement system, I think. Could happen. I'm already able to spend coins I earn from walking in the shop in Samurai Warriors Chronicles.

Damn you, Nintendo. Give us what we actually want, not what you tell us we do and don't want.

I'm not much of a fan of achievements, but I can see the appeal. Activity log is quite addictive, for some reason I have to check it every time I'm done with a game(should give us coins for playing games). :P

I would love for the 3ds to have an achievement system even if it was an offline one, just something to give you a pat on the back for completing a game to 100%.... didn't stop me buying a 3ds today though! :D

I would like to see achievements in my 3ds games, but they would have to be like this: Achievement Unlocked: Poké-Insanity. Leveled all 649 pokemon to 100. Good job! Nothing like 1000s of hours of hard/tedious work to get a good ol' pat on the back. :P

I find achievements weird. As if people need a reason to play a game beyond simply enjoying it. For sure they add lifespan to games, an I must admit that with some games i've gone for them all, but I know people who flat out refuse to play games without achievements anymore. Why? Because it wont add to their apparently impressive gamerscore. It's their loss at the end of the day.

Thanks. I don't think they're a bad idea, though.

Well your wrong. Nintendo knows what you want, not you, so stop acting like you have free will and the ability to think for yourself and do as Mario tells you :P.

;)

But seriously, i think achievementswould be very nice. I think it could be a lot of fun with games like mario. Nintendo's online network isn't really great, so it wouldn't really matter anyway. But with the WiiU having good online capability's, i think they should add achievemnts on that. Otherwise they will lose customers. If they really want hardcore gamers, they have to add achievements.

I think Nintendo should probably add them as many people seem to like the, but I personally have grown to hate them. I much prefer being rewarded with actual unlockables, which Nintendo usually does.

Nintendo currently do not have any form of achievements/trophies in their games and I hope it stays this way.
