And I know otherwise. The volume level affects the battery life sharply. Turning volume up to max on a standard DS game seems to shorten the life down to ~7 hours, versus ~9 or so with the volume all of the way down. It becomes even more noticable whenplaying, say, MP3s with a Max Media Player or an M3 card. With an M3 card (SD version), Moonshell can go anywhere from 0% to 400% volume level, and when your DS gets low on batteries, the light flickers from green to red depending on how loud the song is (red during louder moments, such as sung lyrics or heavy drums/guitars, green during the tenth of a second between drum beats). Cranking up the volume all the way to 400% also seems to kill the battery within just a few hours, not that anything could ever sound good coming out of DS speakers/headphones when the volume is THAT high... I try to aim for 125-200% personally, depening on the band, but... as far as games go, if you want to conserve batteries, keep the volume lower.;)

Of course it does, if there is no sound from the speakers, then no electricity is used, however, if there is sound from them, electricity is used, and the louder the music, the more electricity is used.
