I couldn't care less about GBA BC on my DSL. Aside from sporadic games of SMB3, I don't really use that slot for anything anyway (I'm no GH fan). When it becomes available I'll probably be all over the DSi. Then I can hand my DSL down to my wife, who loves SMB3 to death anyway.

Acronyms are fun.

Well, i'd probably get one,but on how well the ds lites turned to junk(at least the black ones from what iv seen, including my own). Because my ds's hinge broke like one of the other poster's on this page and my "L" button no longer works(makes it tough to play COD:WW...) so i might wait and see how well the DSi stands up before i buy one.

There are tons of other ways to play GBA games (including keeping the DS you already have), so other than shorter battery life (which I honestly don't care about) I'm not exactly worried about anything. And for the people that said hey can't afford one, not only has it's price not been revealed yet, it doesn't even have a release date yet. I'm pretty sure you have time to work up some cash for one if you want it.

I will be getting a DSi.

Just like there were no DS Lite exclusives vs. the original DS, there will be no exclusive DSi games. Downloadable games don't count. There's no way Nintendo would split the market on one of their cash cow systems.

the GBA port is useless to me. my DS is too big to carry around (the phat model). the only reason i'm not buying one is because it'll be too expensive here, but if i somehow get rich, i'll buy it.

Downloadable games count! The only reason the DSL and DS didn't have any exclusives between them is because the DSL was a hardware redesign to make the system appeal to a larger crowd like the PS2 slim was to the PS2. The DSi games are probably downloadable so Nintendo won't have to spend so much money on them. The DSi is like a DS 1.5. More than a DS, but not a standalone system. Has its own games, but its main source is the prevous system's library.

While a lot of people out there are gonna be dishing out the 200 something bucks for a very minor upgrade of something they already have, I'll be sitting comfortably on a stack of $200 that I can spend on what, five to seven new DS games...or something else entirely, like an external hard drive or a new watch. It's just so easy to come up with more practical things to spend that $200 bucks on!

The DSi is nothing but Nintendo trying to siphon more money out of our pockets. Want some proof? Look at every single game they have made recently. They're all uncreative games with absolutely no replay value. All Nintendo can make these days are games that "Everyone should have, and nobody likes." They have to rely on their fanboys and fangirls that think all of their games are good because- oh my god, they're clasics!

My main complaint is with the disappearance of backwards compatability, i though backwards compatability was what nintendo was all about.

qualbert
Backwards compatibility is not what Nintendo is about at all. In fact, with the exception of a few GameBoy models and the Wii, no Nintendo systems have ever been backwards compatible. I'm not sure why you have this misconception.

Well actually the nintendo 64 was able to blay gameboy games as with the gamecube with the gameboy expansion. Most of nintendo's things are backwards compatable.:P

I bet DSi is gonna be easier for Pirates and hackers with that SD slot! Well, theres already those flashcards, to be honest i might buy the DSi, when its a year-old, but the DSi has got that big label on it! "PLEASE MAKE ME BE THE MOST PIRATED CONSOLE!" Because of that SD slot and because the firmware will be able to edit, all the pirates have to do is hack the firmware and put their Pirated games on the SD and boom! Sales are gonna decline! I hope Nintendo makes their Firmware detect Pirated games, and hackers! If not, this could be the fiirst worst Nintendo handheld yet! But then again.... I got my Wii recently, so i might stick to that until their make a new Handheld after DSi, because i think Nintendo may lack-off with this DSi, yes theres gonna be hella of a load of new wicked games out and downable content! But really i don't think im gonna buy one! I might.... But thats a thin chance!

This is here for you to complain about the money grubbing nintendo console, the DSi.

My main complaint is with the disappearance of backwards compatability, i though backwards compatability was what nintendo was all about.

Anymore complaints? Advantages? Post 'em here...

qualbert

Whats with the hating? Don't like it? Don't complain and let someone else get it whose excited about it. I don't like it either and so I'm not going to mention anything about and jsut let someone else enjoy it.
