... You're playing a game, and it's SOOOOooo GOOD, that you notice your battery light is red, and you need to plug in? By that I mean, you play through an entire charge, and you're not ready to put the game down for a proper charge yet? And you were SO absorbed in the game that you didn't notice the battery light until it went past amber to RED?

:D

"Advance Wars: Days of Ruin" is making me realize why I'm a happy DS owner. And I don't get this with ANY of my other consoles or handhelds, currently. But the DS definitely keeps me glued in. Especially with this game, it's so smooth with the touch controls. A definite improvement on the GBA games, which I thought were perfect. Looks as though I was wrong! The DS version is the true perfection!

What game has done that to you, where you burn through an entire battery span, and could still keep rockin' it?

I see your point, but couldn't you just plug in the DS at the moment when the red light goes on, and continue?

Yes. Even worse when you're right in the middle of an intricate battle with a big boss and you have to pause and put the charger in.

For some reason I always LOSE those battles and have to start over.

Resident Evil: Revelations Raid Mode. It sucks when it's online multiplayer because I can't even pause it to go, "Oh where's my charger? Oh where's my charger?" :P

One time I spent an entire day (and I mean the whole day) playing Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. Other than that IDK if I have used an entire battery life in one sitting, although I own several games where that is completely feasible to do.

S'what I did, of course... But my point is, I was so into the game that I didn't notice. That's the sign, to me, of an involving game, and the surrounding mechanics there-of.

:D

My DS is the only system I can go hours on. The games just pull me in more than consoles, etc.

As far as the game being better or worse than "Dual Strike", I haven't played that one yet, but I KNOW it's good. If you dig strategy games, there is really no better series on a handheld and there's really no gamble when buying. They know how to build a good game! "Days of Ruin" is a little different in that the graphics and story tone are a bit more adult (lots of heavy-handed conversations about social structure and privilege, which can be skipped via the 'Start' button, thankfully), but the core mechanics of the series are completely intact.

Addictive isn't the word. Again, if you like turn-based strategy.

My DS has always offered up games that, though they aren't cutting-edge graphics, are better GAMES. Really not since the days of the PS1, have I felt this into a system, where you're looking forward to a commute after work so you can keep going...

Pokemon and probably MK are the only ones that have that effect on me.

Used to happen to me all the time when I had a DS. Tons of great games for that handheld. But, it was way better than when it would happen while playing a GBA and you didn't realize that you were out of batteries... That was terrible.

MonkeySpot.....as a fellow Advance Wars enthusiast I give you the e-brofist. Yes, the Advance Wars series has done that to me and I've continued to play with that infernal red light. I would save after each turn lest that infernal DS shuts off at a crucial spot.

On the subject of Dual Strike vs Days Of Ruin/Dark Conflict I did prefer Dual Strike. Maybe for the tag team of CO's or the lighter atmosphere, I dunno but I fecking loved Advance Wars DS. One of the greatest games of all time.

Just happened to me with Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. I suddenly started playing again after a few months because i was stuck. I finally figured it out today and managed to finish 4 dungeons in a single charge. :)

That happens most when I'm playing a Pokemon game but luckily I always keep my charger near me so problem solved. :P
