Never played the origonal. I am certainly keeping my eyes on this one. Some things impress me and others do not, but overall it looks pretty good.
First Dragon Quest I played, embarrassingly, was IX. I'll be looking forward to getting VII and in the process of hunting down IV-VI on DS.
Excited but worried about one thing, difficulty :/ I couldn't finish DQ9 because of that (Got up to Gittingham palace) I didn' have the patience to grind, So is this as hard or hader then DQ9???
That's right where I stopped as well, just recently went back and beat that part. Then it got hard all over again :PExcited but worried about one thing, difficulty :/ I couldn't finish DQ9 because of that (Got up to Gittingham palace) I didn' have the patience to grind, So is this as hard or hader then DQ9???

It looks cool, but I'm hesitant. DQIX was my first DQ game and I really didn't enjoy the later half of the game.
Looks awesome. Might have to get a 3DS now for this and a few other games. I don't like the character design a ton in this one, at least for the Hero, but I'm sure it'll be a great game, especially since it has the Vocation System similar to III and VI. Hopefully it gets released here.

You can grind on Metal Slimes pretty easy in the game. I did it before the final end bosses of the game. They give you 40k experience per victory, so if you have a party of 4 then each one will get 10k experience. You can rank up really fast. Great game. I put 70 hours in it and still have only done like 15 sidequests. Playing Radiant Historia now.

Lol I have put ove 120 hours into DQIX. What an awesome game.
Also how are you enjoying RH?
That looks so different from the original dragon quest VII, they should have just changed a couple characters names and called it DQ XI and hoped no one noticed lol
If it's actually confirmed for the West, I am most likely going to get at some point. However... my main focus is Monster Hunter at the moment.
How good is this series. It may be something I'm interested in. My only problem is if the sequels follow a strict storyline, I'll have a lot of catching up to do that I don't think would be worth it. I could always look up story online though, but is it worth getting into now?

I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain DQ is a new story everytime, much like Final Fantasy (for the most part) and Tales of (for the most part).

You are half right. The first 6 titles were 2 trilogies. Dragon Quest I, II, and III is the Loto saga and IV, V, amd VI were known as the Zenithian trilogy. That being said, you could still play them as stand alone titles without missing too much especially with the first 3. VII, VIII, and IX have no connection to each other to my knowledge so jumping in at any game would be fine.
