Dropped my 3ds getting out of the car? What color is under the system's color?

Mine is red, but Now I have these tiny black splotches on the r and l buttons and one tiny splotch near the r button from where it hit the concrete.

Is black what's under it, or just a scratch? It's hardly noticable though.

I have the red 3DS as well and my dog ran off with it before I had a hard case for it. He ended up putting a few marks on the outside and they are still red. Mine just lost it's glossy finish in those spots, so yours might just be some gunk in the scratches from the concrete.
