DS Lite you can get a camera and it cheaper then the DSi itself if you would just want a camera in it, plus DS Lite can play GBA Games
The DSi is everything the DS Lite is (minus the GBA slot, but go buy a SP if you want that) and more.
Also, we should be expecting DSi-only game by next year so unless you don't mind being left behind a little, the DSi is the right choice.
But if you don't really play DS games then all you need is a DS Lite. It's just a DS with a brighter screen so you shouldn't waste and extra 30 bucks on tons of great, new features, DSi-only games, bigger and brighter screens, matte finish, extreme lightness in weight, camera, internet, higher wi-fi capatiblity, and a rainbow pen in Pictochat. No, no. That would just be stupid.
Go for DS Lite it is cheaper than DSi and offers backward compatibility i.e you can play GBA games on it.It is a 2in1 gaming devicejohnbrutusDSi's bc is considered to be DS games... It's going to have it's own library of games. :|

Cons: - less battery - camera and sound a little gimmicky - 184.69 price point ( price put includes tax) ...................................................................................................... Pro/Con ( your opinion) +/- matte finish ........................................................................................................ would I recommend it? YES! Is it great? Yes! How do I know? I HAVE ONE! Fix'd
Same. The problem with the lite was the horrid buttons. Mine also suffered from dead shoulder button syndrome.DSi>DS Phat> DS Lite Imo. I've owned them all.
ms-fable
I've owned all so I'll be perfectly honest with what I'm about to say but before that let me just say:

DS Phat
Why get it?
Should you get it?
Well, unless you're really tight on cash I wouldn't recommend getting this. If you like big gadgets then go ahead but I still wouldn't recommend it.
DS Lite
Why get it?
Should you get it?
Since the DSi's release, the DS Lite got cheaper in some areas. A lot of people are selling their DS Lites for dirt cheap so it's good for those who are tight in cash. Brighter screen, longer battery life, better design and the bigger stylus are among the pros of the DS Lite. I wholeheartedly recommend the DS Lite over the DS Phat anyday but against the DSi, that's for you to decide.
DSi

If you're planning to buy a new DS or are new to the DS scene then I'd recommend picking this up UNLESS you have a lot of GBA games that you just can't let go and plan to play them until the end of time. The cameras are 0.3 megapixel (correct me if I'm wrong) so don't expect fantastic pictures, having said that however they are nifty extras and it's fun to mess with them and the pictures aren't that bad. The music player is nifty but the songs aren't that loud when I'm playing them. Audio is much louder in games which is nice but you don't need it that loud. DSi Shop is neat and the web browser is... interesting. It's really GBA slot versus nifty features when it comes to the DSi and DS Lite with price standing in the middle.
Sorry if im wrong. Im thinking about getting a DS and I've never had one before, im planning on getting a DS lite because the DSi seems to be more expensive and all the you get for it is a slightly bigger screen, an awful camera ( and who would really take pics with their DS), an awful sound player ( listen to your Ipod) and less battery life. Yes you get downloadable content but I dont have WiFi in my house so its no good for me and if I really want to play on line I go on my xbox 360. So to me the DS lite seems like the only real choice? Please say if I'm wrong because im planning on buying this Friday.Strap_happyDude you just answered your own question. You seem to dislike the DSi so just get the DS Lite. I would say get the DSi but there's not much I can say to pursuade you to get it. If you want my opinion, read my post before yours :)

You are indeed wrong.
Sidenote: the editing/altering parts of the sound app are also great fun and you can easily mess around with them for days, testing them out on different songs (trust me... I did it).
That being said, get the DSi.

Sauce?
What?
lol,i think he means sourceLet me also add that the DS Phat is the most durable and built like a tank. And the GBA slot doesn't stick out. But the DS Lite's brighter screen makes it better. However, the Lite is more fragile and you have to deal with cracked hinges. Also, the GBA cart sticks out. It's no big deal, but it looks ugly. The DSi however, is in between. It's weaker than the Phat but stronger than the Lite. Also, it has no GBA cart but the SD card gives it potential.I've owned all so I'll be perfectly honest with what I'm about to say but before that let me just say:

DS Phat
Why get it?
- 2nd hand DS Phats are dirt cheap
- Brand new ones should also be dirt cheap but I don't think they make them anymore (I could be wrong)
- If you like your gadgets big and fat then you'll like this
- Has a GBA slot if you still love your GBA games to death
Should you get it?

DS Lite
Why get it?
- Brighter screens
- Longer battery life
- Has a GBA slot if you still love your GBA games to death
- Slimmer and glossier design
- Bigger stylus
Should you get it?

DSi
Why get it?
- It's the latest DS model
- Bigger screens
- Has a camera and plays music
- Has a DSi Shop
- Better audio
Should you get it?

Overall, I think the DSi is the best one to get because it has a faster processor and more ram. Also, there could be more DSi-exclusive games coming out soon and Nintendo may finally give us a VC. And the screen is bigger. But the DSi costs more. Still worth it though.
Seriously, is there even a person who has a lot of GBA games but doesn't have a GBA? If there is, he must be a very stupid person. I say go for DSi. It really is an improved DS.lordlors
Absolutley.
Talk about a tad challenged.
It's like, buy and bunch of Gamecube games and then getting a PS2. srsly. (k not that bad, but...)

Are you serious? Why go out and buy some used, scratched-up gameboy when a dsl plays them? That seems stupid to me.[QUOTE="Yoweeh"][QUOTE="lordlors"]Seriously, is there even a person who has a lot of GBA games but doesn't have a GBA? If there is, he must be a very stupid person. Are you serious? Why go out and buy some used, scratched-up gameboy when a dsl plays them? That seems stupid to me.Because anybody that would be interested in GBA games would have bought them when they were popular like in 2003 or something. And would have gotten a SP along with them instead of getting a DS Lite 6 years later when they look really fugly sticking out like that.
And not all used SPs or GBAs are ruined. I saw this mint contintion Pikachu SP for $60 at GameStop last time I was there.
I would have bought it, but then again I stopped playing GBA games once the DS Lite came around.
Because -new flash- it plays DS games.
Not true. I inherited a bunch of gba games from a friend, but not a gameboy. I've always played them on my lites. Why not? I don't think they look..."fugly"...in the dsl. Lol, and I would never pay $60 for a gameboy. There's no point? I don't understand why you're so rude to everyone that wants to play gba games in a dsl. They're built to play them, and many people do. There's nothing wrong with it, and there is no need to be rude over it. I hope you understand that when you come off so aggressive, you lose any credibility in a discussion.Because anybody that would be interested in GBA games would have bought them when they were popular like in 2003 or something. I see your point. However, it's like someone buying a PS3 and playing PS2 games on it, or an Xbox 360 and playing original Xbox games on it. Yes I know newer PS3's don't have backwards compatability, but that's irrelevant. The point is some people like playing last gen games. I was never a big GBA lover. But I now occassionally play Pokemon Emerald and stuff on it. Is there a problem with that?I'm sorry, but DS's are bulid to play DS games, hence the name. The GBA slot was just a bonus. An out-dated bonus to make more sales.
And honestly, not many people bothered with it.
And yes I'm rude. That's just how I am, mmmkay? ;3
Yoweeh
...they're also built to play gba games. I would like to see your source for saying "not many people bothered with it." If it's ok with you that you're rude, then fine. I'm sorry you enjoy being that way : / Just know that in the real world, when you grow up, you won't get anywhere with that attitude. No where good, anyway.I'm sorry, but DS's are bulid to play DS games, hence the name. The GBA slot was just a bonus. An out-dated bonus to make more sales.

how broken is your fat? if it still functions for GBA games you can ignore half the posts in this thread. i had a fat up until a few days ago and finally upgraded to a DSi. IMO, its worth it

lol,i think he means source Seriously?I totally agree with Taylor_B. I had (Still do) a great collection of GBA games when i bought the Lite. I gave my GBA away to my sister and my Lite is used to play my GBA games all the time. You can't condemn people who play GBA games on the DS as stupid and yes, being rude won't help you at all and I pray that you eventually get over it.destroyerHHHCan't condemn people for playing GBA games but you can't condemn people for buying the DSi. Not saying that you condemn DSi owners but I've seen quite a few people get fussed and bothered over our decisions to buy one.
[QUOTE="lordlors"]Seriously, is there even a person who has a lot of GBA games but doesn't have a GBA? If there is, he must be a very stupid person. I say go for DSi. It's just that i have observed that when it comes to DSi, many people bash it just because of its lack of GBA slot and that's very stupid. "DSi doesn't have a GBA slot. It sucks." I mean do you see plenty of PS3 owners bashing the PS3s that aren't backwards compatible? DSi just came out. I'm sure people by now who are interested in GBA games either have a GBA or DSL. Again, sorry for my aggressive behavior and rudeness.
