The way I see things, people who are new to the DS scene should get the latest DS model which is the DSi. They don't need the GBA slot unless they want Guitar Hero and want longer battery life. People who have DS Lites don't need to upgrade to the DSi but they don't need to bash it either. I sold my DS for a DS Lite then sold my DS Lite for a DSi and I'm happy with my purchase. You are sick of DSi owners forcing the DSi down everyone's throat while I'm sick of DS Lite/Phat owners bashing the DSi for no good reason.Kenny789
I'm afraid I've seen many more dsl bashers than dsi bashers.

DS Lite bashers? How could one possibly bash the DS Lite? :? I see DSi pushers but not DS Lite bashers. Maybe GBA slot bashers >_>

People complain about the buttons, the screen size, how "stupid" people are for using the gba slot, etc...

I had a DSi, and downgraded back to a DS Lite.

I like the feel of the DS Lite, it seems to be lighter in your hand and the buttons are firm, not soft like on the DSi. Also, GBA slot.

I would buy the DSi if I were you. I think you'd enjoy it more eventually, the downloadable content will help further justify your reasoning for a purchase of it. The DS Lite does have an interesting button set up too, and thankfully they've been improved on the DSi. If you want GBA games, I think you should buy a GBA Micros or GBA SP separately off of eBay or something someday.

I think if you buy from ebay the ds lite has a better value IMO. I bought a ds lite in very good condition, with box and 3 games for $96. The three games being Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Final Fantasy III, and Animal Crossing Wild World. The ds lite alone was only $75 but he had a deal for each extra game only costing $7 so I went for it. Anyways, I rather have that deal compared to a DSi for $170 or $150 used. Course buying a DSi would be future proof never know what DSi-ware games will come out. Right now, I'll take my chances with the DS lite till the DSi proves worthy.

Did you get a defect? The situation is quite the opposite. The DSi is lighter and has firmer buttons... :|

No it worked fine. Perhaps I described it wrong.... the dsi buttons felt shallow and soft to me. The Dpad is also too stiff. I play alot so I started to notice the little annoying things about the DSi (to me, at least), and they started to wear on me. The only reason I could see getting a DSi is for the apps.

I'd have to say DS Lite. If you have a DSi then you don't have a GBA slot, and that's just dumb, the camera I mean. That's what an actual camera (or a phone) is for, I don't need my DS becoming my camera too.

The camera isn't the only difference, you know. =/

I don't think anyone bought a DSi for the camera.

An I agree, it's pretty useless. I only use it when I'm with a group of friends and we all just fool around with it, giving each othermustachesto drawing rainbow unibrows on each other. You'd think it's stupid but for a bunch of hyperactive giggley girls and bored guys it's a lot more fun then it sounds.

Yeah, I know, but it's the thing that sticks out to me the most. Some of my friends did, but they aren't the gamer type of people, they're more mario and mainstream like that. It sounds fun, but just not worth however much it is, In my opinion. But hey, whatever you like.

Then you don't understand what the camera of DSi is for. It's for fun not for taking pictures. It goes the same with the voice recorder and music payer of DSi. Have you even used a DSi extensively? I'm sure not.

I know it's for fun, geez. But I'm just saying, I wouldn't want to spend my money on a DSi when I have a perfectly good DS Lite. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Who's forcing you anyway? DS Lite owners whine and whine about the dsi like they're being forced to buy DSi when they're not. The TC doesn't have a DSL so he could go for DSi if he doesn't mind not being able to play GBA games.

Nobody's forcing me to, can I not state my own opinions and facts? Is nobody on these forums allowed to have their own opinions unless they agree with you? Ya? Well good for him, I was just Stating my own personal opinion, the title is "DS phat, DS Lite, or DSi" So I assume we can state our opinions, unless of course, they don't agree with you, well not everyone's going to agree with you, like me. If he wants a DSi, fine, I hope he has fun with it, but personally I prefer the DS Lite.

Welcome to the system wars! demo version. (only DS, DS lite and DSi) lol. Anyway, i recomend you try to relax, i have months of experience in discussions and stuff, and it seems the best is try to stay calm. Avoid or ignore personnal attacks and keep your opinion strong. And since you're a new user, welcome to GS. :D

If you don't have GBA games, then get the DSi since you'll get a whole slew of features plus there's a good chance we're going to be seeing some DSi specific games as well as the regular DS games. You can play your GBA games on your GBA.

Just Guitar Hero for the time being. Activision is working on a guitar grip for the DSi. I read somewhere that the next GH trilogy will be exclusive to the DSi, but I'm not sure.

As you can tell, it's something of personal choice.

>Do you have a GBA or any of it's variations? DSi

>Do you not have a GBA, but wish to pursue your future purchases of GBA games and DS games? DS Lite

>If you answered the above question with a "Yes", but like the DSi's upcoming and exclusive features, then opt to get a DSi and a GBA SP.

>What are the features of the DSi? The DSi is 12% thinner but slightly longer than the DS Lite ; The DSi contains two 0.3 megapixel cameras ;The screens on the DSi are 0.25 inches longer than the DS Lite ; The DSi's RAM exceeds that of the previous model by 4x (4mb -> 16mb) ; The DSi has an online store in which you can buy games that are only in said store ; There will be DSi specific games in the future. ; More can be found here.

>Did you say DSi specific games? Yes.

>Proof? In addition to downloadable games, Nintendo DSi is able to play games made specifically for the system and sold at retail. The system can also play most Nintendo DS games, and will have access to a library of more than 850 titles originally made for that system. -Siliconera

Thank you, and goodnight.

Wow, that's quite silly :P I would never bash the DS Lite because I owned one and I loved it. There's nothing wrong with the DS Lite, I just find the DSi better because it's an "upgrade" and everything but there's nothing wrong with the DS Lite. I just step in when there are people calling the DSi "Useless, stupid and a waste of cash".

DS- advantages: plays GBA games disadvantages: dimmest of the 3, thick and chunky DS Lite- advantages: plays GBA games, brighter than DS, slimmer than DS disadvantages: dunno DSi- advantages: camera, SD card slot, better connection online, slim, brightest of the 3 disadvantages: no GBA slot
