Little King's Story - 9 8)

"You couldn't call Little King Story deep, but its replacement of a linear narrative with a single objective that's accompanied by many discrete narratives besides is an achievement many games would do well to learn from."... "Little King's Story is as rich as it is long, and it's a very lengthy game indeed."... It's a game of rare quality, and exactly what the Wii deserves."

other scores:

GTA: Chinatown Wars - 9
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena - 8
Godfather II - 6
Wanted: Weapons of Fate - 4
Madworld - 6
Plants Vs Zombies - 9
Wheelman - 4
Battleforge - 7
FF Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time - 6 (both Wii and DS tested)
Sonic and the Black Knight - 3
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume - 7

this is I believe the 2nd review for LKS. First one being 92% from NGamer. And anyone who knows EDGE know they are pretty harsh reviewers which is the reason why they get so much hate sometimes. So ya, a 9 from them is pretty darn good. Lucky Europe get to play this game in a little less than 3 weeks.

I don't how they could give Madworld a 6 while No More Heroes ( which is a worse game than MW imo ) got a 9 ...

Glad to see it's getting good reviews, too.

Good for LKS, gonna buy.... BUT what in the unholy **** happened with Madworld´s score?

Is the reviewer braindead or something?

Grinning_Demon

Maybe he is after playing the game. :P I've only played four levels of Madworld, but I'm not very impressed so far. It has some of the same problems No More Heroes does -- great bosses, not-so-great levels leading up to them. I'll reserve final judgment for when I finish the game, but at this point, I can see how it could warrant a less than stellar review.

Yeah, there's something about NMH that allows people to overlook its basic flaws that I just don't see. Whatever it is, maybe the Edge reviewers didn't see such a quality in Madworld. It's hard to even guess based on the numbers alone.

Again, EDGE may be hated by some gamers for it's harsh review scores, but they're one the most highly respected games magazines in the world. Of all the talks and events i've been to about getting a job in the gaming industry, publishers and developers alike have repeatedly bought up this magazine as an imperative read. Then again, most people think any game rated lower than a 7/10 is not worth owning and cannot possibly be as enjoyable as an 8 or 9/10 rated game.

It's that forbidden word: St*le. :o And humour. Madworld has plenty of that. [QUOTE="Haziqonfire"] Probably is a different reviewer -- meh.

Not sure about that. All their reviews are written by "Edge staff". That means they reflect the opinion of the editorial board in order to not just be published under a single name with the typical disclaimer (that the opinions of this author do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the company etc.) It reflects a consistent panel's opinion.

yeah the final moments rlly are the greatest moments. i was also in your current position, but once i reached the 'top of the tower', all that questioning abated. ill even playthrough a second time, especially for the little extra goodies! topic- that review gives me even more alacrity to go and pick this up on day one. im giddy for LKS

Hm, thats strange then that they gave NMH a 9.0 -- Considering it was pretty unpolished compared to MadWorld. The only big problem with MadWorld is that its relatively short and it can feel kind of repetitive after a while.

Exactly, and those were the same complaints of NMH: repetitive gameplay, redeemed by awesome bossfights. Anyway, not something I'm going to get worked up about. MW has really good reviews overall. What's awesome though is that Plants vs Zombies has a high score. And a great theme song?! Omg, must buy. How has no-one commented on this?!

I feel like i'm the only person who hates Madworld on this board. It's just driving spikes into people's heads, stuffing them in trash cans, and then putting them through a rose bush or spike. There is occasionally an environmental hazard unique to each level and a bloodbath challenge but it still feels repitious. Bosses are basically chainsawing the enemy with shaking the controller during a cinematic attack. I got bored of it by the end of Asia Town.

I preferred No More Heroes because of the story and i never really got bored of the combat. It was fast-paced and hectic and bosses had interesting ways of killing them instead of just slashing them constantly.

IGN is always off, even long after release they still have the wrong dates. You don't know how many edit wars break out because people try to change the actual dates of release stated by the company to those listed by online stores and media sites. When I edit wikipedia pages, I don't allow anyone to cite gaming media info pages. Only official press releases count. There is no date and it wasn't pushed back. Only the EU release has been announced.

This game looks very interesting. The next game I'm getting is either Rythm Heaven for DSi, or ExciteBots. After that I'm getting Punch-Out which is the game I'm most looking forward to. I must say, this is the first year on Wii that I've had trouble keeping up with all the awsome games. Still haven't played MadWorld or Deadly Creatures. Great year for Wii.
