Eevee just provides too many choices.

I'm plaing Pokemon Platinum and I'm trying to figure out what I should evolve my Eevee into. I chose Piplup as my starter so Vaporeon isn't a choice. I plan on picking up a Houndour on Route 214 so I won't need Flareon, but am still considering Umbreon I'm currently using Rotom as the electric member of my party, but I am not sure wheather I will/should keep him. I never have found ice-type pokemon that great, sorry Glaceon. So choices are:

Leafeon
Umbreon
Espeon

Which Eevee evolutions are your favorites? This is my first experience with Leafeon. Which one do you think is the strongest and has the best attacks for its type?

rotom wouldnt be a great electric type to have later down the road, i think u should try to get jolteon or espeon, jolteon has great speed and average sp.attack, but espeon has great special attack and speed is pretty good

No, it just because flareon is bad. Personally i would pick him... but the fact that he has bad moves for his stats doesnt help.

Espeon is pretty awesome. Fast, really strong special attacker, but frail. Irons would definitely be helpful.

Umbreon is a good Pokemon, but is more defense-oriented.

Flareon is crappy.

I just caught the Lake Trio, and I'm severely disappointed! I'm keeping my Espeon as my Psychic Pokemon!

Irons are an awful choice for espeon. Why would you give it EVs in defense, it's not going to survive any strong hits anyway. It would be much more beneficial to put EVs in speed and special attack and sweep away.

That's not totally true,it depends on how you train your espeon and what moves you're teach it against strong attackers. I

Well I don't really know what EVs are... I thought it just increases the defense...?

Ooh, I have a feeling that the rest of this thread will be spent flaming me.

Irons give 10 EVs in def. (which raise it eventually, 4 EVs = 1 stat point at level 100) to a limit of 100 EVs in that stat (same with any other vitamin). The thing is you have a max of 510 EVs (counts all the EVs in all stats), and 255 in one specific stat. It would be a better investment to get the EVs in special attack and speed (maxing them) so that espeon can crush more enemies, rather than increasing its def, trying to make it a wall (which it can't be).

Ah I see. That makes sense, thanks.

Every "Eveelution" has its strong and weak points, when it comes to stats. Espeon is a good choice, Umbreon is like its counterpart, it has great defense and Sp. defense stats, but Espeon is more of an offensive choice, speed + sp. attack is great. Neither have good moves, though. Unless you teach them.

Really? Could you explain? It used to do me wonders, but now I just use a dual-type for flying/electric.

Really? Could you explain? It used to do me wonders, but now I just use a dual-type for flying/electric.

base stats: HP:50 (very low) ATK:50 (same) DEF:77(low) S.ATK:95 (usable, not great, but its decent) S.DEF:77 (low) SPD:91 (not to slow, but not fast enough to outspeed alot either)

theres your problem. low defenses and lower hp means it cant take a hit. its special attack is usable, but its still much lower than alot of special attackers out there, and many of them have higher speeds.

in conclusion, it only has 2 worthwhile stats, which are lower than many other special attackers you could be using.

*sigh*, however if you have the secret key.... Rotom Base Stat upgrades tos: 50 HP / 50 Atk / 106 Def / 105 SAtk / 106 SDef / 86 Spd This applies with any of his electrodomestic shapes.

Umbreon fails, Leafeon is a more worthwhile choice.
