Favorite Nintendo franchise that you fear is doomed

Nintendo has A LOT of franchises. Hell, even some of their franchises have other franchises spun off of them (Mario into Wario into Warioware). They have so many in fact that they may not get around to some and may purposefully allow others to die slow deaths.

So what franchise do you love, but fear will not see another title added to it's library.

Mine would be F-Zero; IMO it got significantly better with each incarnation... but it would take a miracle of earth shatering proportions to convince Nintendo to make another (or even better, hand it back to Sega)

I'm going with F-Zero too. We have no idea if another game will ever be made. Nintendo didn't like GX, despite being one of the best racing games of all time. Who's going to develop it? Does Nintendo even care about these C franchises anymore, since they've shifted much of their efforts to the casual front?

There will be plenty of DK games to come, even if they all are crap.

ya same here. nintendo ruined all the new games and wont stop making the dumb music ones. maybe their against adventure games about monkeys! i wonder if rare splitting up with nintendo has anything to do with it.

DK isnt doomed nintendo keeps trying new things with it.

F-Zero has had a game on the n64 and the gcub and im sure when nintendo gets around to it they'll make one for the wii. the problem is if it will be a GX sequel with Sega at the helm or something new.

Kirby hasnt seen a real game since the N64 and im keeping my fingers crossed for Kirby Tilt and Tumble 2 on the wii. It would be perfect

F-zero cause their is no ds version and there is a ds game for mario, link, pokemon, star fox, donkey kong, chibi-robo, mario kart, and warioware, but no F-zero. Most of those series are even on the Wii.SSBFan12

But there was one on the GC and the GBA and there was an arcade version. Kirby is just about dead.

I really really hope that all you people saying Donkey Kong actually bothered to play DK Jungle Beat on the cube!!!!

SERIOUSLY, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was a haven of pure, platforming innovation in a generation that largely came and went without a single breakout platformer (first one since NES).

If you need to be sold on this game... It's beautiful, fast, and insanely fun game that was the first showcase of the talent that would later create Super Mario Galaxy. Also, It's biggest deterrent was a 50 dollar price tag for only 5-6 hours of bliss, but that is now gone as the game is available for 10-20 dollars (DO NOT play this game without the bongos).

So anyway, sorry about the rant. DK 64 was mediocre, it was fun but a collection fest and it was the personification of everything wrong with 3D platformers. DK Jungle Beat was a rare gem, and the fact that it will only be regarded as "one of those Bongo games" is a crime.

Star Fox wont die, it's always made at least one game per console(almost) and it wont change here. F Zero has had on game per major console so that wont change, so shut the hell up people and stop crying.

Now Donkey Kong hasn't been so hot besides for the platformer with teh bongos.

The only thing I'm afraid that has a chance of dying is probably Smash Bros. Sakurai said BRawl was the last for him, I hope the next guy doesnt ruin the series for us.

Zelda and Mario get a freebee pass 'cuss there top dogs for Ninty. PKMN will always live while there are asian people with imaginations, so dont worry about our Pocket Monsters. Tehy WILL live forever and ever.

hmm, I cant think of other major franchiises besides for MEtroid, it'll be back, it will, even if it takes another 10 years to think sumthing new with our Samus Aran.

As of other games, well from the past they might be back on the Wii. Kid Icarus anyone?

Yeah DK. The games suck harder and harder with every new release: Donley Konga? Jungle Beat? Barrel Blast? What in the world happened to the plataforming genre!? It sucks. Yeah, Mario Party games used to be excellent, they began tu kinda suck with the 4th installment. Star Fox... I hated Command. Hope the next game is good (Assault was ok, 64 was excellent and SNES is legendary. Adventures... I don't even consider it an Star Fox game, I see it as the original game it intended to be: Dinosaur Planet. I can't avoid to think how great the game could have been if they hadn't implented the stupid Star Fox gimmick, it just doesn't fit for the Star Fox universe. Still, an enjoyable game to some extent). Um... Smash Bros. anyone? I don't see how they can make another game after Brawl, heck, even Sakurai said this could be the last one, the game is very complete, I can't think of other installment which offer anything new, only if they redesign the game, but don't know how. I don't see the problem with F-ZERO. They could easily make another game that doesn't suck, the last ones were great.

I'm not really worried about any particular Nintendo franchise dying off. Sure, right now we're in the Wii incarnation and that has brought a new way of playing that no one has really got to grips with yet. Weak games don't necessarily mean the end of a particular character. A lot of people are worried about Donkey Konga. The last good game he had was Jungle Beat on the Gamecube. That was fresh and innovative, if a little short. DK is a cultural icon; everyone knows him, he will never die. Don't forget that these characters have been around for decades -- yes longer than a lot of people on these forums have been alive -- and will very likely be around for several more decades. There have always been highs and lows but that hasn't stopped the big N from pushing forward the franchises every now and then.

Ok, right now Nintendo is experimenting with some of the characters in non-traditional types of games, and casual gamers are now a big part of our family, so naturally they try to satisfy both the long time fans and the more casual gamers. I don't mind this, everyone deserves to experience some gaming happiness. Not everyone has hundreds of hours to put into gaming (although that's another topic altogether).

the donkey kong country series are the best DK games of all the franchises, after that, it went downhill, making all the DK family like a bad MTV-hip hop-dream, "jamming" and bongos, and all that crap

i gave like 50 opportunities to DK64, i never like it , Banjo.Kazooie is better IMO...

they should bring back the DKC at least in the Wiiware or the DS... not all that stupid games of beating bongos and DK rapping

like my last reply, totally agree with you about DK..., the snes games are incredible, it has real smooth environment, the music is excellent, specially DKC2, its a terrific game, oh well...

I'm sure there'll be another Zelda game, but what I'm afraid of is that it'll be exactly like Twilight Princess with a few new moves and items, and that's it. I'm afraid it'll feel stale.Chojuto

It's the opposite for me. Considering how Nintendo has often stated that Twilight Princess will be the last of its kind and keeps implying that the next installment will be some sort of a first-person, swordplaying godless hybrid (or whatever), makes me worry that Twilight Princess will be the last good Zelda game on a console. I don't think I'd call the series "doomed" yet however, as we know very little about the next Zelda (yet what we know offers no comfort).

That aside, Donkey Kong's already been buried in the ground from my point of view. It's not doomed; it's quite past that point.
