Considering the 'it would take 30 years to make for the PS3' quote one of the devs said (Google it) I think there's a chance of it coming for the 3DS instead.

FF1-6 have already been remade. FF7 remake can come from anywhere.

I'm pretty sure it will eventually come to the 3DS.

Oh, and sorry about another FF7 remake thread :P

I would like to see it happen, but I think they would end up remaking V and VI for the DS or 3DS before they consider VII.

yup, if anything it'll be remade for either the PS3 (maybe PS4 depending on how long it takes them) or the PSP/PSP2

Yea that didn't stop Castlevania: SotN and Perfect Dark appearing on the 360. (Same for Tekken, Devil May Cry, Ridge Racer, Monster Hunter all coming out on non Sony systems). If Square thinks they can make some cash from a FFVII 3DS remake it could happen.

HIGHLY doubt it since I doubt Sony would let Square develop FFVII on an Nintendo platform so easily. But it can be done if Nintendo asks....

It would make much more sense to pay off Square to remake it and it be exclusive for the PS3. It would drive unit sales for damn sure.

Not really sure why people keep clinging to the idea of a Final Fantasy VII remake, but hey if its going to happen the 3DS is probably the best bet.

Dragon quest proper came to ds. So this happening could happen. They just had final fantasy as coming to 3ds. It could be 7 they make. Seeing how dragon quest did and how popular ff7 is this could happen and if it does nintendo has portable gaming again.

Guys come on.

The only reason a company "remakes" a game, is to make it look better. If you think FF7 is going to look better than how it does on the ps1 your terribly wrong.

The DS is more powerful than the PS1 so it would look better (maybe not much but it would) and would be 3D and would get touch screen controls so it would be an improvement over the original version.

And how exactly would Sony stop them, I don't know how this "rumour" that Sony has rights to Final Fantasy VII came about but there lies, yes they published the game on the PS1, but only in Europe and America, Square published it themselves in Japan, and Eidos published the PC version which came after, and Square published the game on PSN and the prequel/sequel games Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus where also published by Square, Sony did help publish and develop the movie FFVII:Advent Children for Square Enix in exchange for them making the Final Fantasy VII Tech Demo with PS3 equipment to show off the power of the console, but there partnership ended there with regards to VII after that(which was made public after Sony foolishly said the Tech demo was proof that Square where remaking the game for PS3, Sony don't have any way they could possibly stop Square and Nintendo if they where to make a 3D version of Final Fantasy VII.

Why do people keep asking for remakes of every game?! I'd MUCH rather see the developers put their resources to creating new original games made specifically for - in this case - the 3DS.

I mean, what's the point of keep playing the same game over and over again, just on different systems? I don't get it.

Well coming from a strictly Square Enix view point, have you played there latest game? FFXIII is terrible compared to the other games in the series(I myself am only continuing to play it because I paid money for it and I have finished all the games in the series before it, bar FFXI Online) and remakes of there once great game from them end up been often even better (case in Point FFIV DS was much better than the original version) it's only natural to want them to stick with creating great remakes of there good games than terrible new ones.

I said if Nintendo ask, Square CAN port it....:| I'm already aware that Sony doesn't entirely OWN final fantasy VII. I was just saying that Sony would probably try and pay Square or call them disloyal to keep it as their brand name if they heard it was being ported to a Nintendo platform. I'm already aware that Final Fantasy VII and VIII are both on the PC since I actually have both titles for the PC. I mean, if they brought Kingdom Hearts that had Cloud to GBA, then I'm sure Cloud isn't an exclusive Sony character. Nor is the main game and it's spin-offs....

People want remakes on more powerful systems so it can enhance the experience and maybe tweak the problems while adding things the developer wanted to add but couldn't due to hardware limitations. They want those games to be "perfected".....

The fact that Final Fantasy I-IV were originally on Nintendo platforms didn't stop Square from later porting them to the PlayStation. And VII was also released on the PC.

I'm one of the many people who believe FF7 is over rated and does not stand the test of time too well. gba brought nice remakes of 1&2, DS brought us nice remakes of 3&4, so I'd like to continue the trend and have 3DS bring us a nice 5&6. I honestly prefer either 5 or 6 instead. I also like new games too so if they bring a new game or 5&6 I'd be happy. If you want portable FF7 just buy it for psp what's the big deal?

I think Square screwed up FF7 enough with the movie and new games, and I really don't want to see them screw up the original game yet.

The DS remake of FF4 disturbed me a little as it was.
