Have only played the 3 Castlevanias on the DS - I want a good turn-based fighting/strategy game.

I use to own "Final Fanatsy XII: Revenant Wings" but I sold it. I have come to the conclusion I am no good at the "strategy" genre. However, you may like it.

I really didn't like Revenant Wings that much. The game really had no strategy at all, just moving your entire army to attack the enemy as they come to you. Not really all that engaging. It's story is fantastic though, even if you didn't play FF12 (I didn't).

FFTA2 is pretty good. It's length alone makes it worth it's purchase, and if you enjoyed FFTA, you'll love the fixes (mostly the easier law system). The main story isn't that great, but some of the side stories are definitely worth it.

I'd pick FFTA2 over Revenant Wings, but that's just me. And for future reference, there is a sticky for these questions.

FFTA2 is a better game. I got stuck on FFXII:RW and gave up because it was getting very repetitive and the story was bland and childish imo (the story is about defining the word "sky pirate" and proving to ppl that there are good sky pirates...sounds lame? it is). FFTA2 i didnt finish but i have been meaning to pick it back up again after i finish crisis core (which is incredible). I am pretty sure you will be happier with FFTA2.

I can't believe you have only picked up the Castlevanias! There are so many great games on the DS!

Anyways, if it comes down to FFTA2 or Revenent Wings, I would advise FFTA2! It's a pretty good game and a solid strategy game! Much more strategy and depth than Revenant Wings! Honestly though, I would suggest Luminous Arc 2 and 1 if you got into 2. Luminous Arc has a better story and I found it to be far more entertaining, even though A2 is a good game. You should pick up Luminous Arc 2 and than consider A2, imo. Good Luck!

Its too short (I think so anyway). Since it's the only one I've played of the two, I'm choosing that. It's a great sequel to the original for the GBA.

Nai disagree with everyone. FFTA2 had crap story unlike its predecessor, graphics are exactly the same on the ds as it was on gba, the battles are really long and u only get 30 ap per side quest which is very little. So you end up playing a long time with little reward, crappy story, and graphics which are the same. Revanant wings is better although they are different kinds of games, revanant wings is more innovative.

Only if you do the required missions.

It's DS vs. GBA, what'd you expect?

Ill go for FFTA2 since is the only one ive playd but its really awesome. You are going to need a lot of time to complete all the sidequest and its prety long if you just not go trough the main story. I didnt play the first FFTA but indeed is greater. ;)

FFTA2!!!

Disgaea is fine....FFXII: RW is nonsense!! and FFTA2 is the best among the 3!!

It's obvious among those 3....the answer is obviously FFTA2!

The sprites are similar, so I can see where he's coming from. The spells and backgrounds in A2 look far superior though.

Disgaea is easily the winner here IMO. Sadly not many have played it :( Disgaea is faster paced with a superior score, more customizable and has a humurous original story and likeable characters. Its only fault is the game's ugliness; sprites and backgrounds alike are extremely blurry.

Tactics A2's battles can get tedious (you barely get rewarded for a lot of the battles, despite them lasting often times up to half an hour) and it has a terrible, sickeningly awful story. Good presentation values though, so if that's your thing A2 won't disappoint. Plus it has 50 something ****s, although Disgaea is equally customizable.

Revenant Wings' battles are short and never get tedious. The problem with the gameplay is that it's just bland RTS with no strategy involved and the controls aren't as good as they could be, even restricted by DS hardware. Graphics are great and music is compelling, although the same can't be said of the plot. If you want an RTS, just go for Lock's Quest/Ninjatown/Robocalypse.

None of them are necessarily bad games, but Disgaea is just much more rewarding in my opinion.

Doing 200 missions has to take at least 60-80 hours. That is in no way short.

FFXII: RW is my choice. In the beginning all you get is childish crap about being sky pirates and all, but as you progress, the storyline "deepens?" and cooler Espers are unlocked. Maybe you guys just don't like RTS's in general..

Hahaha when i said they look the same i meant all the character models are the same. Of course they dont look "exactly" same but there is so little improvment over the gba version that you can barely tell. And dont get me wrong i played 40 hrs of the ds ffta so i'm not just talking out my ass. The battles wouldnt be bad if you got a little more reward to unlock the better abilities. I mean imagine trying to get the dual wield ability, its 999 ap. You get 30 ap per battle. Each battle lasts about 25-45 minutes. And to even be able to get that abilitiy you need to make a ninja class. That needs 4 theif abilities( 100-200 ap/per ability). The thief class needs 1 soldier ability (100ap). So you are in for a lot of battles and time being wasted if you get this game. Get disgea or Revnant wings. Or better yet just get advance wars which beats all.

^ Strange, did you even play the game? I finish 3 battles on a ride to campus, and it's 10 Minutes per battle. The ninja class isn't difficult to get to....that's not even half way through the game....if FFTA2 is tedious, then you sure Disgaea is easy? Walk in the park? Have you even played the games....? Revenant Wings wasn't that good....it wasn't spontaneous enough for the DS, which is a relatively spontaenous handheld console....and the sprites are too small..... FFTA2 is the better choice....
