Amazing, the features we wish we had are finally happening. Since this is happening with MK7, I'm assuming it'll happen with many other games that are on its way out as well. Proud Nintendo Ambassador~!
They said there would be more updates and 3D recording before the end of the year during E3, so this isn't a surprise to me. It's nice that we know which month they plan to release the update instead of just being left to guess.
And the news about Mario Kart 7's Online is great, I just hope they improved the ranking system.

Always happy with meaningful firmware updates. I think the 3D video thing would be cool to play around with, but with those horrible cameras the quality probably isn't too good. It's just going to end up being a really grainy 3D standard def video.
Looks like Ninty is making a genuine effort to turn things around.

software sales would greatly increase if 3DS owners could try out the games first, so they got nothing to lose.
Sweet! I am deffinately going to get Mario kart 7! And I cant wait to have the 3DS video taking feature. That way I can make blogs and wont have to get myself a camera :P
Hopefully 3D video capture means that they will have 3D movies coming as well, or atleast a 3D video file type so you can download videos onto the SD card and watch them. Also hopefully that means 3D youtube will come and the ability upload your video's onto youtube. I think that will be cool.

I'm with you on that. Apparently Heroes of Ruin will support online chat. Nintendo are still too sensitive to do this with Mario Kart though, i'm sure.

I'd love to send messages across games. Written ones will do just fine for the system, I don't need cross game voice chat, but being able to send a message to a 3DS friend and they can receive it while online or via spotpass and have a notification for it, would be great. I really hope that comes soon frankly and am sadden it's not here yet. However, voice chat in games could be implemented already, if developers worked on putting it in. Metroid Prime Hunters was the only game I can remember (along with Pokemon) that have put the functionality into the games. Pokemon at least let you do it during battles, but... voice chat in games is likely already possible since the DS could do it, it just hasn't been put in any game though.
