I was thinking about a wii megaman game (not DS, not wiiware) that would be epic enough to be on a disk. What if capcom took a spore approach with a megaman? What if all the master robots were created by players with a creature creator (in this case a master robot creator) and could post them on servers? And then every time you started up a new file you downloaded 8 random robots? Maybe even throw in a stage creator to to go with those robots?

To make things consistent robots and stages would have to be created under one of eight themes: Fire, Ice, Water, Time, Strong, Fast, Air, Other.

When you start a file, the game would download one robot and a stage for them of each type. Each type would be weak to one of the others. That way it still feels like a megaman game, but new every time.

Another cool idea would be to add a vs mode where you could fight megaman, protoman, and bass against each other plus master robots you've defeated.

As for why on the wii? Eh, I'm a fanboy. It's not like this would be a taxing game on the wii and megaman just feels right on nintendo systems.

The vs. mode you speak of already exists. Megaman Fighters 1 & 2 already exist. But still a great idea.

I read the topic thinking of MegaMan in an open world, similar to legends I guess.

However, I think your idea is good, I don't know if its enough for a game alone to be based on, but it sure would be a great feature. Different robot masters all the time? I'll take that.

That sounds pretty cool. I would definitely buy it. Having the player community interacting with the actual game like that is something I always like to see.

btw, your sig is disturbing on so many levels... that kirby... thing... is down right horrifying.

i like the idea. they got most of the original robot masters from design contests in japan. 6 was the only one that had 2 american masters. but i think it would be fun to see what people could come up with these days. but i think with so much goin on in that kind of a game it might be a little too big for the wii to handle. if it could fit on a wii disk it would be great though

I love the idea! The only thing I think would hurt it is the Wii's limited storage space. Now if we got a hard drive....

I think that you would have the basics for a great game. For the boss creation tool you would need to be able to configure the boss's weapon so that it could be yours and original. I would love to see some co-op multiplayer capabilities, whether it be online or offline. That would take a lot of work but I think that its do-able. Maybe even for multiplayer you could add 2 bosses to each level instead of just 1. 1 boss created from each player. Food for thought. ;)

sounds like little big planet with robots, not a bad idea but forcing types like that seems very limiting. If you could mix and match things then that opens it up a bit and to keep it from getting boring it would have to have a large array of customization options for the appearance of the robots. But hey MM9 is suppose to feature DLC so maybe we will be getting new Robot masters here and there.

Well, maybe the vs mode is too much, but I could still see it being a wii game. MM2 only takes up a whopping 17 blocks, and a download of 8 stages and bosses would take up like less than half that.

Assuming this game is 8 bit as it should be.

The robot editor wouldn't be too hard after seeing editors like spore, LBP, blast works, and boom blox. You would get to draw your own robot pixel by pixel, color it, draw a weapon, choose some weapon stats and features, choose some AI features, and name him. And a level editor would be pretty strait forward. Jus give everything a cost and limit how much you can spend, that way no one's making a super impossible robot.

As for enemies, maybe they could just be stock enemies?

I think that's a really cool idea. Would you have to complete it in one sitting? I think you should be able to save where you are at to be able to come back to it later. Also, it would be cool if you could save specific robot masters/stages that you really enjoyed to be able to play them later. Another thing is that unless the editors are really complex, I think you would end up with a ton of similar robots and stages.

Hmm, what about music? Stock songs people can pick? Let people attach songs from their SD card to the stages they create?

I was thinking more about the robot editor. For weapons, you could give people an empty square of so many pixels by so many pixels to draw what every they want in. They could even draw a few frames for animation. Then they could choose from a list of at least 30-50 abilities that determine how the weapon works. Even draw paths on screen to determine how the shot will fly.

What about the robots' movement? It could really get very complex. You would need to be able to edit the robots' movement patterns and such.

I don't really know how you would overcome that obstacle.

Hmm, well there could be AI options. Or maybe you could hit a record button, jump around and shoot in an empty room, and then your robot's movments and attacks would be recorded to a loop.

One Idea that I had for movement would be to have a list of 20-30 different movements that could be applied. You could then make different patterns for those movements. Run, Jump, Shoot, Bellyflop, and repeat the pattern. This might limit the creative side on the user's end though.

Now, if capcom really wanted to impress us then they could constantly make new and different movements available for free DC.
