game suggestions for Wii u?

Buying a Wii u for my son. He is 9, I have been a gamer for 30 + years but have not bought Nintendo products since the 64. Any must have games for his age would be much appreciated.

@drknessfeeds: Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Captain Toad, Splatoon, Pikmin 3. Lego Marvel, Lego Jurassic World if he just watched Jurassic Movie, Skylanders, Rayman Legends, Sonic All Star Racing, Tekken if he like fightng games, New Super Mario Bros and Hyrule Warriors. I would check out some videos and shop around for some on sale. I dont think you could go wrong with any, but i do recommend a combo of Smash Bros/Mario Kart for high replayability with one of the others, would be awesome gaming combo.

Also dont forget can get some Wii games to play on it. Should be able to find some great ones at Gamestop or Amazon. Super Mario Galaxy's, Mario Kart, Smash Bros Brawl, Little Kings Story, Okami, Kirby Epic Yarn, New Super Mario Bros, Zack & Wiki, Sonic Colors, Kirby Return to Dreamland, Sonic ad Sega All Star racing, Rayman Origins. and Lego games.

@drknessfeeds: mesome713 listed a lot of great games. I would also suggest Ms. Pac-Man from the Nintendo e-shop to instill respect for old school. A game that works with Amiibo would be good too.

Splatoon is a must! Steamworld Dig (none Nintendo inexpensive download which involves treasure hunting and climbing into mines to solve puzzles. Great use of gamepad and great conrols.

My daughter is 8, she loves all these games. I also picked up Wii Party U because it was only $15 and it came with a motion plus controller and she ended up liking that one a lot too.

I don't know if you allow fighting games but my daughter also really enjoys Injustice and some of the fondest memories I have of my father are playing Tekken on the psx with him.

I have not played them but Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is supposed to be good and the new Donkey Kong game don't remember the name.

@MuD3: donkey kong tropical freeze is the new one, if you like the party games Nintendo Land might be something that interests you if you didnt get the bundle
