Hmm which one? I know! I'll take BOTH.
God, why people want only one thing when they can get both is beyond me.

Because you can't get both.
The way the industry is made there's a very wide divide between graphics and gameplay. The same sort of divide that's between the single player campaigns and online multiplayers.
Still graphics add a major jump to gameplay. Just playing counter strike VS Counter strike source the graphics almost change the whole game. Its like the 2D Zeldas becoming 3D on the N64, graphics do a lot and help change the gameplaye.zaku101LoZ:OOT was a little of both IMO
most definetly gameplay.....and as for games not having good graphics and gameplay, thats wrong....jus look at god of war, or metroid prime 3
I say Gameplay handsdown, some still think graphics, i'll go see a movie if i want to stare at amazing graphics.sherbert-lime
I agree!!!!
Why do people make these topics? You can have great gameplay on the 360/PS3, and you can have games with good artstyle on the Wii. It's not like choosing the 360 means you can't have good gameplay, or that the Wii can't have good graphics.MetroidPrimePwn
I owned a 360 and the gameplay was great. I enjoyed the online alot, but unfortunately i didnt have it for a year before it red light of death. I have never owned a system that did that until then. I just tire of seeing all the graphic threads. I own a wii because its much more envolved and fun for all ages. 360 is more for single player peeps. Just my opinion. I do miss my 360 for the online so yea. But wii is what im am glad i went with in the end.
graphics don't just mean good picture. its also about draw distance, how clothing and details look on a person, and cinematics. its what makes a game more realistic. for example, i saw no cinematics in mp3 in outer space, the stars and planets didn't move.....it was like a cardboard background. however the gameplay was great which i really enjoyed. graphics is nearly just as important as gameplay. i say 60% gameplay and 40% graphics.Jayesler12Stars don't move very fast when they're light years away.

Obviously its gameplay.
Close your eyes: that's a game without graphics.
Disconnect your controllers: that's a game without gameplay.
They are both important but why should we have to pick either? Can't we have both? Of course we can.
Take the Super Nintendo/Genesis generation most of those games looked good for their time though not all of them were fun to play, I can't think of a fun Super Nintendo/Genesis game that had bad graphics for it's time. The only reason I care about graphics as much as I do (which isn't much) is because good looking and bad looking games cost the same in stores but less for developers. For example MySims and Mario Strikers Charged both cost $49.99, it's fairly obvious that MySims cost less to make but consumers have to pay the same ammount.
I've used 3D modeling programs and I know it doesn't take a lot of effort to make good graphics, the real limit for the Wii's graphics is the hardware. We all know the Wii is a capable system and we've seen what Mario Galaxies looks like, I can't think of a Wii game that looks better than Mario Galaxies. Mario Galaxies may or may not be fun, I don't know yet but if it isn't any fun it won't be because Nintendo focused on good graphics it will be because they didn't try to make a good game.
Obviously its gameplay.

If you're a Nintendo fanboy, you can't have both since than you can't champion the 'Graphics don't matter' slogan and can't feel morally superior to 360/PS3 fanboys.

Gears of War was fun though(had good graphics/gameplay)I just hope that the developers that are enjoying graphics and enjoy making games don't forget that
the wii is a great system because it is an opportunity towards great gameplay, even if it took a hit with graphics.
Just because there is a virtual console with old games, doesn't mean that's all people want. We want
nex gen gameplay, even if the graphics have to take a hit. I Hope they don't let it get to them.
Their eyes are used to seeing pretty polygons not showing edges and Final fantasy games that look
really realisitic but the wii, can do some of that too, just not to the same level.
But when there a group of people around and we all holding wiimotes laughing at each other
and enjoying our time, you realize that we even have co-op gameplay potential.
this thread is a little repetitive, but I hope this is not skipped.
Gameplay FTW!
Just look up gametheory, its game methodology and not game visual design that wins out in the end.
With a little timing of course ;)
Gameplay, I would want to play a amazing game, not look at amazing graphics. In other words why buy a game that you are only going to stare at?1up7Because what do you do when you play a game? You stare at the screen. Why would you want to stare at something that is not aestheically pleasing to the eye? I agree that the game should be fun to play, but it should also be something good to look at.
