Won't hype it, I doubt the game mechanics aged well.Fightingfan
Hence the reason, they said that this: "the new GoldenEye 007 gaming experience will reflect modern technology advancements, while channeling nostalgia for fans of the franchise."

"Best FPS of all time" is debatable and a matter of taste

I personally love the fact that finally with the classic pro controller now out, we have an fps that will take advantage of the "typical" console style control scheme. I could never get the hang of Wii fps controls.

[QUOTE="kinger256"]Good for nostalgia, but that's pretty much it. Don't except a lot out of this game. The elements which made the original great have been replicated many times over this generation.InfinityMugen

In what game!? The only game THIS gen I can think of that had elements of Goldeneye is Perfect Dark Zero and SORT OF Halo, which was good, but in the end a bad goldeneye / perfect dark game. So many games miss this feel of an FPS which I love. It is the agent feel, rather then run and gun chaos feel, where enemies know where you are 24/7 and stealth is NEVER an option. Goldeneye is not outdated, its graphics, framerate, controls and such are. this is just what it needs.

I missed that element too within FPS games. TImeplitters Perfect Dark and Goldeneye are still my favorite FPS's and I'm glad it's making somewhat of a comeback.

Now here is a smart guy! :P

@StarWarsJunky

I won't get to into other FPS games not on the Wii, but you have to realize that what you said is a matter of opinion. I personally think this game is going to be better then KZ2 and Halo, although it COULD bomb. I have KZ2 and it lacks a lot.

Now someone please tell me what looks so awful about this pic? If IGN and other editors say the games graphics look quite nice I think they are probably right ;)

5 MAPS?!!? What a joke! It doesn't matter how many modes there are, or how many character, or the weapon combinations. It's the same 5 freekin maps over and over! 5 maps is fewer than the number that Goldeneye had on the N64! The multiplayer is gone. It will get tiring very quickly because it's the same dang few environments / atmosphere every time. The Conduit had this problem (one of many) when it had fewer than 10 maps. Goldeneye for the Wii has even less than that, and less than its previous title made over 10 years ago! No way would I get it for multiplayer. Not with an FPS. You need to have a good number of maps. 5 maps for multiplayer is the fewest I ever heard of in any FPS game, ever!

I checked the first of this topic and is explicitly says 5 posts. If there are more than 5 maps, then blame me for being such as a stupid ignorant punk (ME) entrusting the words of another user. That's the only opportunity you get to blaming me. Blame the TC if he didn't get a valid source and going off by rumor only, if that's the case, and honestly I kind of hope he does...not for his sake but the extensive showing that Goldeneye's reputation is being ruined in every way possible being done exclusively on the wii. If the TC a source but it turns out the source is false, then blame the freekin article editor who wrote the piece.

Huh, I did not see that in his post until now. I find this hard to believe and I don't see it on any site anywhere, besides forums. If someone gives me official proof to this then I will say the game may suck :P.

Ehh....more like 12. And that's included the BASEMENT being one map, LIBRARY being another map, and then STACK combining the two. Still, removing...actually removing all of them there was like Caverns, Bunker, Facility, Complex, Temple, Egyptian, Caves, Archives....so yeah about 10-12 in all.

Yeah around 12 or so. IMO an FPS needs to have a minimum of 8 maps, 10 is comfertable, 12 is great and anything above is mind blowing :P.

Wait a minute, what the crap are those three rows at the bottom?! I beat every single mission on all 3 difficulty modes. I don't have any of those. Did you use a cheat inserting certain button combinations or did you beat a ton of target times? Something else?

You needed a GameShark or an ActionReplay to play them and they aren't officially a part of the game. They are kind of unstable too.

Why can't a Wii shooter compare to the likes of Killzone 2 or Modern Warfare? I still personally rate the original Goldeneye above either game simply because i've had more fun with that game than either of the other two. There's nothing to stop a Wii shooter doing the same. Raiko101

The wii has allot of potential for FPS games. But the fact the Wii lacks a real online service and doesn't have a very large shooter fanbase pushes developers away

I have a question for all the skeptics. What scores would it have to receive for you to have more faith and give it a go or buy it? For me I am hoping for an 8.5 at least although 8 is decent. A 9 or higher would make me super happy though. I personally tink this game is going to stomp all over The Conduit 2, but hopefully they both rock.

Well I don't think it will get a 9 on GS, but MAYBE! Who knows, all I know is that GS is frikkin harsh sometimes. I am willing to bet it gets a 9 on IGN though.

Well thats the best arguement against Wii Shooters, but if you make the most of what you have you can still come up with something great. I enjoy 4-player split screen Goldeneye as much as I ever did Modern Warfare, so there's still hope with Wii shooters.

It has split screen!!!!! Getting it just for that probably.

Notes on the gameplay: 1hko melee shots? That's hella lame no one is going to want to approach because you'll get punished for it.. Which means camping... Which means a lot of gayness is already in the game lol.

one key feature I like about this game and I'm sure I have already said it on here is the Classic Controller Support!

It has split screen!!!!! Getting it just for that probably.

Notes on the gameplay: 1hko melee shots? That's hella lame no one is going to want to approach because you'll get punished for it.. Which means camping... Which means a lot of gayness is already in the game lol.

Pesantez

stealth allows for context-sensitive neck snaps

Is that what you mean? I think that is only in SP. Oh and TC, please change the "5 maps" in the original post if it is not true.

Having the same name as a great game doesn't mean this will automatically be a great game as well. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I would have preferred simply having the N64 original on the VC.

While I agree it COULD be awful, I also feel putting the N64 one on the VC would be a waste and taking the easy way out. This is not Goldeneye, it is a reimagining that will feel like it, and breathe a new life into the series that has clearly aged due to graphical abilities, controls, and AI and such. This is the way it could actually be brought back and bond could return to his former FPS glory. I feel it will at the very least be a solid title from everything I have seen and heard. but I guess we will have to wait and see.

''Split-Screen Multiplayer / c|assic Bond Characters - GoldenEye 007 features an unprecedented lineup of four-player split-screen MP options, including 40 total characters, 8 c|assic Bond characters, 20 maps, 3 standard modes and 16 special modifiers that allow gamers to create over 500 different game combinations. GoldenEye 007 also features online multiplayer for up to 8 players designed for seasoned FPS online gamers with unique modes and a robust XP system for unlockables and achievements.''

Alright, looks like the mutliplayer could be great (would be nice to see more then 8 cl.ssic bond characters through). Quite glad since this is the creators of Nightfire which had a good multiplayer. They need to add bots through IMO.

Bots would be cool although I don't care too much. And as for the 8 classic bond characters, I think there is actually like 40 characters, but of them are from the classic goldeneye and such. IDK, that is the way I understand it.

[QUOTE="Meinhard1"]The original game had Rare - easily one of the best devs the 64 era. The other "Rare franchise revival game" Donkey Kong Country Returns has RETRO (Metriod Prime) at the helm What does THIS game have in terms of development talent? I'm not asking this rhetorically - is there any known talent behind this game?Litchie

It's Eurocom this time. These guys made Sphinx & The Cursed Mummy, Mortal Kombat 4, 007 Nightfire and Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds to name some of their best games. Not too shabby.. They've made lots of crap too, of course, but they're not completely worthless. At least HVS aren't making the game.

Im getting the feeling that you are not too fond of HVS:lol:

I'm definitely going to keep my eye on this. I loved the original Goldeneye on N64 so hopefully this will be good too.
