Just got a PSP and a DS...

What is a good open world RPG for DS? I have seen some DS RPG games but they are mostly very structured levels in-between cuts scenes. There is no roaming, just moving through a predetermined level. And also I'd like a game where I can save when I want, I prefer not to have check point saves or save only in certain areas or save at the level end.

Any ideas? I do like games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 on the consoles, wondered if there were any adventure games that were a little looser and not as structured, so you could blaze your own path.

Thanks

Final Fantasy IV has some roaming, though i've only gone through a few hours of it. That and FF III, though it wasn't good according to some people.

Dragon Quest V, mainly because you can add monsters to your party and each ones are over the world in different areas.

GTA China town Wars. You do have to go to a safe house to save.

Don't think there is one on the DS. Well maybe Phantasy Star Zero, but I haven't played that yet.

Final Fantasy IV is a harder and more intense story than FF III, but FFIII is still good.:)

If you`re thinking about free roaming like in a sandbox in a similar way to fallout, then no. There isn`t such a game on the DS.

The ones who get close, in advturing is GTA... maybe lost in blue, but i never played those two

And for RPGs... Etrian Odyssey has lots of roaming, but not in a sandbox way. FFIV, you can roam through the world... but its still based on cutscenes and set levels...
