Wrong decision times about a million
They screwed up their brand name.
When you want a music game you think Guitar Hero, Rock Band is their own niche.
The song editor is great but that and the Guitar is where it should have stopped.
It's decisions like this that should make all Nintendo fans happy and proud we support a company that does not screw up their brand names like this.
they should sell the game with the guitar only
and.. you can buy the drums and mic seperatly!!! if you want an extra for the game..because I still think the serie must stay with the GUITAR theme..but.. adding a drums , bass and vocal for extra will be very nice!
But I buy this over rock band anytime!!!

Wha? Huh?
If the game covers all instruments why do you want them to sell only the guitar so they can charge more money for the rest of the pieces needed for the game?

I agree that the song creator/editor thing is a cool idea, but that the inclusion of new instruments is a mistake.
its an obvious attempt to counter Rock Band thats going to end in tragedy. really, they should just stick to a guitar-only approach. apparently, activision didn't get the memo that people bought Guitar Hero over Rock Band for a reason. they should just stick to guitar-only for the main reason that the one place where Guitar Hero excels leaps and bounds over Rock Band is in the kickin' solos. but no, Activision has only two things in mind: money, and EA dead.
oh, and by the way, the song editor only lets you edit songs already inside the game.
its a shame, because if i could input my own music *thinks of Led Zeppelin* that would have been an instant buy for me.
oh wells... *waits until june 22*
they are only adding drums, not vocals (at least IGN said that) and the Bass has been there since long time ago (or at least since 3).
fitootif
they are adding mic as well. its only in the song editor mode that you cant use the mic

I agree.
Companies try for decades to get just one game that's a brand name in the industry. A game that when you refer to that game you refer to the genre.
Guitar Hero HAD that until this latest release.
Here is yet another example of corporate juggernauts not caring about the consumer and focusing only on what is important to them: the bottom line. Rock Band added something new to the music genre and Guitar Hero refuses to be outdone.
I personally think this is a horrible idea. The guitar is what made Guitar Hero great in the first place (I doubt as many people would have played a game called 'Drum Hero'). If the song editor is what it says it is going to be then I will still be happy with the game, but I do not like having to pay over $100 for a single video game.
idk what will happen they probably just want to beat rockband

and fail
Harmonix puts their soul into creating something unique, as well and put much care into the personality of their games with one of the most important aspects of any music game: The Soundtrack. seriously, listen to "Green Grass and High Tides" byt The Outlaws and then "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" (the GH3 version) and tell me which is the better end song. i think its pretty obvious
If people have such an objection to the multiple instruments, why not play just as a guitarist? And for people who complain because it's called "Guitar Hero," do you only as as Mario in "Mario Kart?"JAB991
The problem is that I imagine the guitar parts will suffer as a result. In Rock Band, the guitar parts are much easier and (in my opinion) less fun (by far) than those in Guitar Hero.

Mario Kart is called Mario Kart because it's the Mario Universe.
What Guitar Hero is doing is like Nintendo taking Mario Kart, adding a driving range and batting cages as core components of the game, and calling it Mario Kart.
Nintendo doesn't do that because Nintendo knows how not to destroy it's brands.
I mean if they could still center in on the Guitar, then it would be a great direction!Baldwinc47
I mean if they could still center in on the Guitar, then it would be a great direction!Baldwinc47It's all about responding to competition. How can Guitar Hero compete when Rock Band has multiple instruments. If Guitar Hero can do it better, all the power to them. If they can't, then GH could be finished. I'll still be getting it though.

Dude, how is this them not caring about what people want? They're ADDING stuff to the game. It's supplementing the main focus, which is the guitar. It isn't changing the gameplay for the guitar, it's just giving you MORE to do. Yes it is a way to fight Rock Band, but all they're doing is what is best for their company.
You guys who are whining about them adding stuff are just stupid. There is no way that you'll ever be satisfied with anything.

If you play Rock Band right now, you'll see that the guitar is nowhere near as hard as Guitar Hero's. The songs in Guitar Hero will still have harder solos and faster shredding than Rock Band. That has and always will be their main focus.

If you think that Guitar Hero won't sell now because they have other instruments as well, you're ignorant. Sorry, Jay. You know I love you, but that's rediculous.
If anything, it will just push Rock Band into oblivion. Guitar Hero is too recognizable of a brand name to get rid of, so why would they create a new "Band Hero" or whatever, when they can just keep the name?
Every single reviewer agreed, Rock Band raised the bar. Guitar Hero now needed to step up, and Activision did what they had to do.
Guitar Hero feels...almost obsolete to many people now, because why buy this game with just a guitar when you could buy a game with a guitar, drums, and vocals?
Personally, I'd never buy a Guitar Hero game if it only had guitars. Why? Well, other than the fact that you only get one instrument, how are you going to play with 4 friends? 4 guitars? No thank you.
I have a friend who owns both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Can you guess which game people want to play when he has parties at his house?
Besides, I'm sure the Guitar part of Guitar Hero will still be as difficult and deep as it always has been, but now they have optional backup.
It also appeals to a larger audience. Not everyone wants to play guitar. Some people prefer drums, and some people can't even play a pretend instrument, so they prefer to sing. There are 2 more demographics right there that expand the audience, which equals more sales.
And also, realistically, even the greatest guitarists in real life have bands behind them.
So don't be selfish. Share the stage.
Wow all this talk of the guitar parts being better in GH than RockBands. It a glorified game of Simon. It's colored items coming across a screen. It is not too difficult to add more notes to make the game harder.
Adding other "instruments" does not mean the guitar is now going to suck. Like I said it is all about how they set the colored notes to fly across the screen at you. I dont see how adding "instruments" to the game is upsetting people. If the drums bother you don't play them. It is still the exact same game but now with more added. I don't see how this is a mistake on Activisions part. Just because vocals and drums are added does not mean the "quality" of the notes coming at you will be less.
