If there's ever a Guitar Hero: Metal Rules, then I'm sold.

Boy, I never get tired of "People's Musical Opinions Equal Inarguable Facts".

If we all liked the same stuff, there'd be no need for the nine trillion bands that are out there. Get over yourselves.

This sounds awesome, but I may get GH4 rather than this. I like Metallica, but their not one of my favorite bands.

I personally prefer Metallica over Aerosmith, but I honestly think that they should just drop all the knock off Guitar Hero games (yes, including Guitar Hero On Tour), and focus on GH4. And also go back to numbering the titles because i feel that they should at least keep it nice and simple instead of using annoying cliches.

I do like One and Enter Sandman a lot but that's it.

Would never consider one of these band Guitar Heroes unless it was RHCP.

[QUOTE="Hells_Hammer"]"Have you ever heard Master of Puppets? Best song of all time."...I know it's a matter of opinion, but this is a joke. You need to expose yourself to more music. End of story.

Anyway, it just seems that there are hundreds of bands better fit to have a Guitar Hero game.

Rocky32189

Since you obviously think you know what you're talking about please name some better songs and better bands instead of just bashing Metallica. Back up your claims.

I never bashed Metallica. I bashed "Master of Puppets? Best song of all time."

Van Halen

Michael Jackson

The Beatles

Green Day

Depeche Mode

The Cars

Bad Company

The Police

Primus

Nine Inch Nails

The Smiths

The Cult

Cheap Trick

Ozzy/Sabbath

Tool

Journey

Pixies

Fleetwood Mac

Smashing Pumpkins

Motley Crue

...All better candidates for a GH game, in my opinion.

Anyway, I agree to disagree.

They should make a Guitar Hero Disturbed Version.Zivia

That's the only version I would be interested in, I don't like that much the actual GH/RB libraries... except for Iron Maiden.
and staying on topic, GH: Metallica? what songs would it have that Rock Band doesn't have?

What's next? GH: U2?

Definitely peaked my interest. I am going to be getting GH4 however Metallica is definitely not one to miss. It will be interesting to see how this one plays with GH4.

I'm not sure what your talking about with grundge and glam rock maybe your implying that they are the only alternative to metal I really don't know. maybe they were the best of their time but that still makes them horrible due to the fact that the 80's suck. The worst music of the last 50 years came from the 80's. Everyone started to capitalize on TV and bands put more into their music videos than their music. Listen to Jimi Hendrix or Pink Floyd if you want more than 3 chords at least Jimi and David Gilmour know how to play the guitar.

Who are you replying to?

If you actually think that the 80's are worse than the 90's or 00's than you are crazy. The 80's were an excellent time for rock music, especially metal.

Where are you getting this three chord stuff? That didn't happen until all the grunge and punk crap of the 90's and the emo crap of today. The 80's actually consisted of talented musicians unlike what you see today.

Kirk Hammet is a great guitarist. No one is saying he is Jimi Hendrix or Eddie Van Halen, but he's still very good.

I was referring to guitarists and here are my top 10 since you asked:

1.Jimi Hendrix

2.Jimmy Page

3.Eric Clapton

4.David Gilmour

5.Jeff Beck

6.Paul Simon

7.Eddie Van Halen

8.Ywengi Malmsteen

9.Joe Satriani

10.Steve Vai

11.Stevie Ray Vaughan

12.Ritchie Blackmore, Angus Young, John Lennon, George Harrison, Randy Rhoads, seriously alot of people are much better than hammett. He has always taken grief for his lousy technique and lack of music theory.

I meant to quote ahahaG but forgot and he was referring to grundge 3 chord music and the 80's, which were terrible. punk was around in the late 70's dude. The 80's had either metal or pop, 80' did not have talented musicians, i mean come on the talented ones were all the ones who were already established in the 60's or 70's. Eddie Van Halen proved that the faster you play the "better" people think you are, where as Hendrix was fast but also had melody. Metallica will always be sellouts and egotistical to me because of the time they sued someone for downloading one of their albums online. When they were new they handed out cds for free. Now theyre greedy billionaires pissed off because they missed out on $12.99

Though I am not a fan of anyone in the entertainment industry getting paid more than the people that keep us safe and do important work but I agree with why Metallica was mad about illegally downloading MP3s. Thats their work, thats how they get paid. Their is no right for anyone nor is anyone owed anything for free. Were they all ready millionaires? Yes, many times over but besides the point I would be made if someone was stealing my work. What if we all took your services or goods that you produce for free. I gurantee you that if GTA IV was being downloaded for free Rockstar would be very pissed off. Would that make them a sell out, no it makes them a business trying to profit. So in your definition maybe Metallica is sell outs because they are not unicef and give thier work away for free. By that definition most of us are.

No one is asking you to like Metallica, point being their music fits the style of the guitar hero games (meaning complex groupings of cords and power notes). Some of your top picks would not fit into a signature guitar hero game Green day (only uses 3 cords) and much of the others you would be hard pressed to find enough sounds from them. Micheal Jackson, really? His music is pop, it doesn't even have guitar solos.

I guess its funny, being mad at people for stealing songs is immoral in your book but playing hide the salami in bed with some kids is no big deal.

studwig, that's not a bad list except Angus Young is definately not better than Kirk Hammet. Not even close.

The 80's had much better musicians than the 90's or 00's.

Metallica was 100% correct to sue Napster. What happens if everyone decides to download music? The industry is dead. Metallica was a huge name at the time, and someone like them doing it brought the pressing issue to the forefront. They were sticking up for the little guys. The people who are not millionaires like them.

And you can't honestly try to tell me there is nothing wrong with stealing music off the internet? So according to you, it's okay for me to walk into a record store and steal a CD? It's the same thing as downloading music for free.

Wow. No solo? To name just a few:

Eddie Van Halen played guitar on "Beat It"

Slash on "Black or White" and "Give it to Me"

Carlos Santana on "Whatever Happens"

link

Apparently, you have to listen to music to know what it sounds like.

No, I listen good (rock) music. No matter what your argument is, I will stick by the guitar work being better in metallica than micheal jackson. Simple fact that almost all pop music sets a larger president on lyrics. But, I am not going to tell you what is good or bad since that is subjective in nature. All i can say is this if you want to jump around to catchy 3 cord beats and sing along by all means do so. As for my I will chose to distance my likes from the guy who looks like an alien and should have been charged for molestation imo. Thank god for money for getting ppl off. Business fact, no matter how much you want GH Micheal Jackson it will never happen for his goofy personal behavior.

Im saying the person they sued only downloadined like 6 metallica songs and they acted like he shot the president. Even if 6 songs were obtained illegally, which i don't support by the way, The downloader shouldn't be charged for the crime napster should. Downloading a song is nothing like stealing a cd. I think few have the balls to walk into a record store and steal but millions of people download. Most of them are young kids who dont know any better, should they pay 2 thousand dollars for each song they stole online? Angus YOung is an example of someone who doesn't have to play guitar as fast as he can and take solos every 20 seconds. He is responsible for some of the most recognized guitar riffs in the world.

How is walking into a store and stealing a CD any different? You are obtaining music without paying for it and committing an act that is illegal.

Metallica sued Napster, not any individuals to my knowledge. But anyway, if someone illegally downloads music, they should be prepared to pay the consequences if they are caught.

Kirk Hammet is responsible for more recognizable guitar riffs and better guitar riffs than Angus Young.

you have a great list of guitarists yes (in fact Hendrix is one of the greatest in my opinion as well), but my only point i want to make is that this game won't be that bad. And to respond to a post earlier, the 80's had some of the worst music? I'll have to disagree and say open your ears to the music playing in this era and then come back and say that. Yes, all those guitarists would be great to have a game around, but my only opinion on this topic is Guitar Hero: Metallica will probably be a good game, and they've had many great songs despite their actions as people.

I grew up in the 80's I gave it a solid chance and I hate the hole era of music. Opening my ears and getting back to you won't weild the results that your looking for. But im not saying it will be a bad game, I like how it gets some younger people into rock music and away from MTV, but as a guitarist I can't enjoy any guitar hero. I bought the first one and even took the time to beat it on expert, I thought it was a cool idea and showed potential. The second was a dissappointment and i've never been able to play any gh since. They focus too much on bringing new songs to the table when they should be focusing on gameplay and making it as much like a real guitar as they can(just my thought). But whatever I guess I'm happy with the real guitar and others are obviously happy with the game because it sells like hotcakes.

i read from somewhere that metallica decided to sue Napster because Lars Ulrich found out about their songs being able to download for free while he was looking for drumming videos off napster. I dont think this is true though. But honestly, why did they choose to sue napster? theres tonnes of other illegal file sharing programs, and how could they confirm that napster was the cause that resulted in radio stations getting a song they havent officially released?

But yes they do have a point there. things in life arent free because if they were, we wouldnt need to do anything for money, and not doing anything means nothing is made.
