Man, I really don't think the Wiimote can be the main input. You can't use motion sensing that well, because buttons and sticks are more precise for a 2D fighter like Smash. And without motion sensing, you don't have enough buttons.
Minumum, you need:
Attack button
Jump Button (yeah, you CAN use the stick, but it's far too hard to shorthop reliably)
Special attack button
Grab
Shield/Dodge
Taunt :P
C-stick equivalent (fast smashes, and non DIed aerials)
A 16 directional analog stick (needs to be that good for a few precise bits like Pikachu's Quick Attack, but in a pinch 8 would do)
And more redundancy is better, because it allows for more possible grips.
I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to have SOME Wiimote control, but to try to force players into using it is just lame. There's no reason EVERY Wii game MUST use the Wiimote- look at Fire Emblem. ANd The Wiimote just doen't have the buttons for Brawl.
