Has Wii officially "jumped the shark"??

It seems everyone & their grandmother got a Wii this holiday season. People that dont even really like video games even. Which is great & all, but I cant help but wonder what this means for the console.

It def seems the coolness factor has worn off & everyone else is now jumping on the bandwagon. Usually when that happens, nomatter what it is, I'm always a little concerned because it usually means that things are on the downturn.

I can't see how the system lost the coolness factor.

Every time i touch it, I have fun.

Fun is cool.

I will admit that Nintendo has had its worst holiday season in a good while though, but that's it.der_spudmeister

At this point I'm half suspecting that Nintendo purposely threw this holiday season just to say to its competitors, "See? We can sit on our asses and do nothing and we still outsell all of you combined. Give up now or be crushed."

And then Reggie comes out and roundhouse kicks anyone who complains.

Just to clarify, "jumping the shark" refers to an episode of Happy Days where the Foz jumps a shark tank on his motorcycle. The term has come to identify when something lives long enough to become a parody of itself. The Wii as a console hasn't changed since the day it was released, therefore the Wii in itself cannot "jump the shark". Now the concept of motion based controls can and will "jump the shark". An example of this would placing motion plus sensors on every extremity for more the involved Wii Sports Varsity. Yes that would be a triple backflip over the proverbial shark tank, but it wouldn't be the Wii. I can see individual games "jumping the shark" by taking the motion based control too far. I can also see M$ and Sony taking a jump with there stab at motion controls. The Wii is like the ipod. The beauty is in the simplicity. Wii Sports Tennis is a huge hit with everyone because it is simple. Top Spin is horrible because it is too complex. The Wii will only fail when it tries to get too clever for itself. My guess is that the next generation nintendo console is going to flop, unless they simply upgrade the computing power for better graphics. funktekk

Whoa Whoa Whoa. The Fonz did not jump a shark tank on his motorcycle. He jumped a shark in a pen in the ocean on water skis. If you're going to explain the history at least do it correctly.

Nintendo hasnt jumped the shark....its not like they made a new mario game set in space. Now that would be jumping the sharkwebbut

so ya wii never lost its coolness or fun factor nor has 360

they are well balanced, they offer fps and other games and they come dirt cheaP, MUCH MORE CHEAPER THEN THE OTHER CORNER and they both have exceptionally well backwards capabilities, options and they now have their own specailly made online download games not just console classics or old xbox/n64 games, they have communty /small games, fun ones, no body does it better, i cant count the games i own for each on one hand or 2 ,

i got like 40-70 games for wii and 40-50 games for my 360 and only 15 for ps3 ,
