Hopefully someone can help me out here.

I just recently bought a 37' widescreen HD TV, and the 360 looks sick as heck on it. However, I bought the component cables for the Wii, and on the tv, the games look like crap. They were fine on my standard def. TV, but on the HD, they look like...low rez games. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Mario, and Smash are coming up...and I don't want them to look like garbage :(

That too

Also make sure that your TV isn't trying to upconvert from 480 to 720.

You have to go into the Wii settings.

Change your display settings to EDTV (480p) and Widescreen 16:9

Otherwise the component cables won't do anything.

Dude, compared to the Xbox 360, the Wii is a low resolution. 854x480 (widescreen) 640x480 (fullscreen) compared to 1280x720 for the Xbox 360. Of course the 360 is going to look sick on an HDTV, it's meant for that.

Same with me. I use the component cables, but here's how I set it up. 480i and 4:3 in the wii options menu and it actually looks better. For whatever reason, I don't know.

Unfortunately upconverting seems to be a problem for some. Every HDTV does it; the source signal has to be upconverted to the TV's native resolution.

I think it really depends on the quality of the circuitry inside the TV, which is of course hard to find out about before you buy it. I have a 40" 1080p LCD TV. I don't have component cables for the Wii yet, so it's not hooked up to this TV. I do have component cables for my GameCube which is hooked up to this TV. I can tell the difference between the 'Cube and higher-res systems (like say the X360). But it still looks very good, especially when I turn on my TV's Game Mode.
