if i get a HDTV and plug my wii on there do i need to buy component cables to make the graphics look better or its going to be the same as the regular cable?

With component cables you should be able to achieve 480p, but you'll still notice a lot more jagged edges, no matter what cables you use.

The important thing is to get a hdtv in which the signal lag is minimal. That lag that hdtvs can create can ruin gaming especially on rhytum or classic games in which timed button presses were important.

Component cables help too since the TV won't have to downgrade it to 480i.

It ENHANCES jaggies since everything is so much clearer and the colors are so much richer.

yes, component cables are a must if you get HDTV. It does improve, but the jaggies are still very annoying. Gotta learn to live with it. Component cables are dirt cheap, something like $10 bucks. I bought mine from penguinunited.com . And don't be dumb and plop down a fortune (> $15) for component cables. They make no difference except to the weight of your wallet.

If you have an HDTV, buy the Component Cables. Compenent Cables always make it better :).

you are mistaken.  component cables help to reduce lag because the tv does not have to process it up as much.  instead of 480i to 720p component cables make it 420p to 720p or whatever the native resolution is.
