Just call Nintendo as outlined in the manual. Tell them what happened and ask if you can get it repaired for free.

I got my DS lite back on launch day, it had a hinge crack. Back then Nintendo wasn't going to fix them for free and still said it wouldn't effect your system at all. I've had it ever since, never gotten any bigger or any smaller. But I will say that if it ever does Nintendo better be ready to stand behind there statement that it's not structurally weak there. Even though common sense would say that it was.

I'm on my third white DS lite because those cracks eventually break. I've had my first two break in the exact same spot, and I had Nintendo replace them for free. My friend from Japan also had his Ice Blue DS Lite crack in the exact same spot. Eventually it is going to break, just from opening and closing it. (My second one broke off when I was opening it.) Get it replaced ASAP, and don't let them charge you a single penny. They should mail you an envelope, and then you mail your DS lite back in the same envelope, no charge.

I dont want to sound like an ass but........ are you guys all like 5 years old? How reckless do you have to be with it to get a crack in it? Mine is in mint condition because i open it slowly, I dont flip it open like a cell phone. and I shut it gentally like a laptop. thats all you need to have a healthy ds lite. I mean they arent ment to be sat on or thrown... I dont see how else it could happen.

I don't get how it can happen either. I'm surprised that Nintendo covers that kind of abuse in their warranty.

This is old old old old old old!!!!

It's a manufactoring defect that occurs in a small number of DS Lite batches. The affected hinge has a too tight screw hence why it is covered. Just effing call the hinge story is a year old. Stop worrying about a nonsense that would have been revealed by using wikipedia.

I got the DS lite at launch, the hinge cracked a week or so afterwards. Almost 2 years later, i never got it fixed. It works perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it. Just don't drop it, or treat it badly.
