Hotel Dusk help please!

Ok well I'm trying to open the brief case, but the thin-wire was too thin. I looked in my room, and noticed there's a thicker wire on the wall but I can't get it off, and I've been walking down the hallway and can't find a damn thing to cut it, or even find someone. It's 5:30pm also by the way.

Any help would be appreciated!

Walk to the last room to your right, then once you're in you'll see a locker in on the left. The locker contain a red tool box, open it and take the pliers. Now go back to your room and use the pliers on the coat hanger
