Before this gen, the only handheld that I had was the original Gameboy, and I honestly didn't plan on changing that any time soon. It wasn't one specific thing that changed it, but rather a few elements that happened over a few years. I heard a lot of great things from people. There were a few games that I was interested in early on, and over a few years, that number has grown by a VERY large amount. Also, a few years into the DS' life, I finally read up on everything that the system itself had to offer, most notably the dual screen and the touch screen, and I loved the idea of both of those things. Then therewas a general change and growth in terms of my gaming preferences. Specifically, I opened up to a wider variety of game genres than ever before.
Overall, I simply grew into the idea, and got excited about more games for the system than any system that I've owned before it, or own now for that matter. Right now I only own one game for the system, since I just got the DS recently (like I said, it did take me a few years to get to the point where I absolutely had to get it), so I can't really say for certain where it would rank among the other systems that I have owned, but based on what I know about the games and the system itself, I can honestly see it becoming my favorite system that I own.
