I heard it's pretty good, and the commercials are funny. But is it just as good as Halo or just below?

Probably below Halo, but great set-pieces and stealthy and unique gameplay make it very close to it. It also great graphically considering it's for the wii!
It's basically a cross between Bond and Call of Duty. I enjoyed the campaign more than Halo: Reach, but not as much as I enjoyed Halo: ODST or any other Halo. Definitely a top tier fps on Wii.
Are you serious? this is a wii forum... dont be bringing any other games into consideration that don't belong here. he ask a question how good goldeneye is. not if it was better than halo. that is for system wars. goldeneye is a great game online is alot of fun split screen is a bit dull to me.Probably below Halo, but great set-pieces and stealthy and unique gameplay make it very close to it. It far exceeds COD, let alone the mediocure Halo franchise.
It is not only the best shooter on Wii, one of the best shooters period.
[QUOTE="-John_Connor-"]its not really a cross between cod at all. It's basically a cross between Bond and Call of Duty. I enjoyed the campaign more than Halo: Reach, but not as much as I enjoyed Halo: ODST or any other Halo. Definitely a top tier fps on Wii.

It may run on a modified version of Dead Space: Extraction's engine, but the game plays just like every Call of Duty released since Modern Warfare in 2007. You may not think so, but I bet most who have played Modern Warfare, World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops would agree.

I agree! The single player is so-so(it's basically:find cover, crouch, stand up, shoot, crouch, reload, repeat process), local multiplayer is still a blast, and online is a lot of fun too. It doesn't stand up to FPS's on other consoles, but it's definately the best on Wii and I'd recommend it to anyone.
If you like call of duty or james bond you will love goldeneye its a fantastic game

I think it's better than Black Ops, and the controls are accurate, smooth and sensible (I'm referring to the remote here). Black Ops has equally good control, but it is a far less interesting game to my eyes.I heard it's pretty good, and the commercials are funny. But is it just as good as Halo or just below?

I got it as an alternative to CoD (I know CoD is really good but it's not for me, and I prefer playing as Bond than as an army soldier) and I think it's brilliant, one of the best games I've played for the Wii. The controls are basically the same as Modern Warfare if you use the classic controller (as I do) and the online mulitplayer is a bit more arcadey in feel. There is no voice chat if that is a problem, for me it's not as I prefer deathmatch and get annoyed when I have to hear someone's garbled, crackly voice on PS3 online games. I've only actually done the first level in single player (even though I enjoyed it) because I've been addicted to the multiplayer.
If you're a fan of the big name games on the other consoles then maybe it's better to stick with those, but as someone who's only really into deathmatches in games like Unreal Tournament and Goldeneye (not that GE is anything like UT besides the simplicity of the multiplayer gameplay). There are problems like hosts quitting (it cancels the game and you lose all the XP you had gained in the match so far - annoying if you're leveling up crappy guns like pistols etc) but for the most part I don't think I've played an online FPS this much since UT2004 on the PC. It does take an awfully long time to level up once you make it past the first few levels though (dunno if thats the same with CoD as I think I was only about lvl 11 when I sold that).
