How can you even say that Metroid Prime and it's later renditions aren't FPS??? The entire game is shooting...from the FIRST PERSON perspective! seriously.awperk12
He's right.It isn't a first person shooter.It's a first person adventure.

i'll second that.
You know I have been thinking about this for sometime. I played Call of Duty 3, and I was quite pleased with the controls and I could see how well it could work.Call of Duty 3 was to busy and the textures were washy, because it was ported from 360 it also suffered from frame rate issues. The Wii needs one truely great FPS to be ported before Developers will make great FPS games for it. The Wii controller works like a mouse so why not port a PC game to the Wii, one that hasnt been sent to console and is a little older so the graphics match up with Wii.
This got me to thinking and I play a lot of FPS gameson my PC and have for a long time, and I think a proper port of a PC game could be Just what the Wii needs to start the ball rolling. One game that I feel could make the transition to Wii very easily and be extremely accessible is No One Lives Forever 2. The game play is stealth and intense action would make it ideal. Also the graphics are still good and would fit perfectly for the Wii. The Coop Multiplayer and Deathmatch and Doomsday mode are perfect for small 16 player matches. NOLF2 is such a good game I play it single and multiplayer over many new games. It is a game like NOLF2 that would work well on the Wii. Also multiplayer is a must, I think once Nintendo has working Online Multiplayer developers will be more likely to make original FPS games for the system. Until then I think we are going to suffer with bad ports from other consoles.
I think No One Lives Forever 2 for the Wii would be a great game and save Wii from its boring FPS exsistance, and the Wii needs internet play before any FPS games will be truely successful. Â

It's the EXACT same things as Super Metriod only in FIRST PERSON.

well, technically its a fp action adventure game with some platforming elements. In actuallity, it plays exactly like an fpsHm... you are not very informed. Red Steel recieved mixed reviews, but it was unanimous that if the game had more time it would have been much better. Also, Far Cry i think had decent controls (although that was the only thing good about it).Leave him, people like to complain and bash things because it makes them feel better. If they would think a little, they would see that Ubis' attempt at making FPS wasn't a failure, but a way to experiment this great console, a step closer to a great shooter on the Wii.
And your biggest misinformation is that Vanguard will suck. Multiple sources have stated that it's going to be better than CoD3 and said that it has better controls (and graphics).
I dont think the Wii will have any outstanding FPS (Metroid Prime aside), but there will be improvements. What do you expect when it's been only 3.5 months?

The reason the FPS suck for wii right now is because they are making the cross hair move within the screen instead of staying in the center and having your area of vision move.....I prefer it that way, I always hated the spinning platform thing. Its one big reason I have never been a fan of FPS, but in order to make everyone happy the could make a button for screen movement, instead of the crosshairs moving the screen. My question is how people are saying this will suck and that will suck with no evidence. Like Metroid Prime there hasnt even been any confirmation of multiplayer and people are saying that it will suck. I mean what are you people on that leads you to believe that you can see the future.

Nintendo is still working on it, especially with Metroid Prime: Corruption. I'm sure that Nintendo is learning from the mistakes of Red Steel and Far Cry (and other Wii FPSs I didn't mention).
I do believe that Nintendo is going the right direction trying to improve the overall experience of FPSs with the Wii controls. Soon, it will be flawless, and 3rd parties will follow along. If there is a Red Steel 2, it should be as perfect as our expectations for the first one.

However for the people who dont want to use the crosshairs to push th e screen I say use a button, or the nunchuk to control the screens movement.
